He looked as if he aged 10 years in 3 months. The saddest thing was seeing my grandpa slowly die and knowing that I couldn’t do anything to stop it. As more time passed, we spent the holidays at their house. He was bedridden right after Thanksgiving. It was getting harder on everyone. Then Christmas came and we knew it would never be the same. My family spent as much time as we could together with him except for my dad, he could not watch his dad be in pain anymore and stopped coming. We tried to encourage him to come, but we all felt the same pain. I have never seen my dad so distressed in my life, it was very heart breaking to

When I was in third grade my grandfather was diagnosed with stage four carcinoid cancer. Stage four essentially means that it has reached the body 's lymph nodes and thus it can infect nearly any part of the body. While this diagnosis was bad, it never hit me how bad it was until sophomore year when he appeared to have suffered from a stroke.
