It has been helping with my emotions and making sure I keep them in order. This week was the first time I discussed with my mother about what I am changing in my life. She fully supported my decision and did not judge me for how I am feeling. Knowing that I have my mother next to my side really helped me want to make this change for myself. When it came to working out this week, my body has become used to the cycle of working out again and being more active. The one thing that my body does not like is the cold weather we have been experiencing here. My mind always tells me not work out because of how cold it is. I started being more energetic on normal days instead of my lethargic lazy and sadly, normal self. It turns out that working out has more positives than just gaining muscle and strength. About halfway through the first semester of weights, I began becoming more courageous. I am a naturally shy person, to be honest, I do not like talking to people at all. The courage or whatever it was that I gained from working out gave me the strength to be able to talk to more people and to become a little more…

My Struggle with Weight and Body Image Although I have always been considered small, my weight has always fluctuated beyond what is considered to be in the normal range of 1 to 2 pounds. The heaviest I have ever been is 123 pounds and I hit that as a freshman in college, unlike most individuals, I was my second heaviest as a freshman in high school. As a three sport athlete I ate whatever I wanted thinking that I could burn it off on the field and being bigger, muscle-wise was better. At the time food was more important that what I looked like and I felt stronger weighing on the higher end of the 110s than the lower end, and accepted the extra body fat that came with my diet and muscle. At some point as a sophomore I started to care more…
