Graduation Speech: Despicable Me And Inception

Improved Essays
As a key-note speaker of my fifth grade graduating class, it wouldn’t take a whole lot for my younger self to say that I was ‘pretty much a big deal’. I had straight As, starred in the fifth grade musical, and was involved in nearly every club that Prairie View Elementary had to offer. The year ended with a bang, and I was honored to have spoken about it. There was an immense amount of disappointment, but excitement all in one year: Simon Cowell left American Idol and broke my heart, Despicable Me and Inception (two of my favorite movies then and now) were released, and so much more. At the time these events occurred, my grandparents, who we call Baba and Dzedo, were visiting for a few weeks as they always do during the springtime. Due to the …show more content…
There is no true meaning to life. Life has no meaning. Us, as people, bring meaning to life - and sometimes, other people help inspire that meaning for us. I’m not sure who said it, I just know that my grandfather relayed this quote back to me about a year and a half ago, a month or two before he passed: “The meaning of life is just to live, do what you love, and live for yourself. If you can help others along the way, well, consider yourself lucky. I would love to be one to change someone’s life for the better. I would love to love someone so deeply that I left permanent imprints on their soul”. Though that is not verbatim, it was said something along those lines. And looking back, I could cry (as I am while writing) thinking about how much he truly lived. Through his influence, and his pure passion for music and literature, he has changed my life for the better and inspired me to be the best version of me. And for that, I am forever thankful for him. Without a doubt, my Dzedo was the best mentor I could have ever asked for.. even though I didn’t have to ask in order to

The day of August 27, 2012 I was officially titled a freshman. One look down those unknown red and blue walls, will forever change my perspective of high school. There was an instant moment of disbelief in my freshman, I was terrified, and no thought came to mind as to how I was going to survive high school for the next four years. Of course I knew it'll be different from my tiny middle school, but will it be like the cliché movies about the upcoming of age, or resemble the happiest times of life. From that first day, I knew I wasn’t like everyone else.…

Life is not something that can be defined by a word; it is more than just having a beating heart, or just about surviving, it about being in a place without fear; it is about being happy; it is about being loved. The meaning of life has a different meaning depending on the lens that the person is using to see life through. The Shawshank Redemption is an example of how the meaning of life differs for each person, as it differed for Red, Andy, and Brooks. Andy Dufresne is a character that somehow never gave up. He kept his head up and never let life pull him down, even when it seemed that the universe was out to…

I figured I should write one more nice thing before my classes start since you guys have been having a very bad week with school stuff and other things. Well, I want to start off by saying that you guys seem to wonder a lot about the meaning of life, and whether or not it has any meaning. I want to tell you that it does, and there is a good quote from a member of a 90’s and 2000’s rock band called Blink 182 that explains why. The guitarist, Tom Delonge, said that “When we realize how little we mean to the universe, we realize how important we are to each other.”, and I think that this is a very true quote that was written by quite the goofball. I’m not going to lie to you here.…

Throughout my time in high school, my advisors and teachers told me, “You will find your meaning in life in college.” This resonated with me throughout my high school career as I tempted to venture into every career option that came to mind. From struggling in AP Chemistry to creating soundtracks in Media Arts with glee. There were times where I felt unsure of my purpose in life. Every time these moments hit, I would think of the words “You will find your meaning in life.”…

We are constantly striving to search for the purpose and meaning of the things we do in our everyday lives. I believe we need reason and purpose in order to do anything, just how some need a reason or reasons to keep living, or their lives may become “meaningless”. I believe the meaning of life is to find what is true to you by using your own personal experiences and dreams. Everything you do brings meaning, even if it brings you happiness or sadness or even tragic. Either the experience is good or bad, it still has…
