“I could be a great teacher” I thought. Usually that thought was followed up by “but teachers are lame”. Well now I am studying to get a degree in English education. My competitiveness got the better of me, and I went from “I can do better” to “I will show them”. My motive for teaching is not to show everybody up, however. That challenge would be way too easy with my revolutionary middle school ideas. My motives have changed, and my passion has grown since then. I soon realized that my ideas were all pretty terrible. I began to take the idea of becoming a teacher seriously in the eighth grade and I realized that this was my calling late in high school. My goals for teaching are not limited by the borders of the United States of America. Do not get me wrong, I do want to teach here, but only for a short time. The world needs good educators. Education is the most important necessity for developing countries. It has the power to break the chains of poverty for anybody who commits themselves to it. Not only does the world need good educators, but it also needs Christians. It needs Christians who are willing to go anywhere to share their faith and help the community.
