Reflection About Art

Decent Essays
Most of the time when one thinks of art they think of paintings and drawings. Sad to say I used to be one of those people. As a child I was never a girl that loved art. I never even had an art lesson let alone an art class until I was in middle school. The closest I had to an art class before middle school was coloring in a coloring book when I was a little girl. However, once I reached middle school art was a mandatory class that I had to take throughout the rest of my grade school career. Even so, I still was not someone who was very interested in learning about art. This was not because I didn’t like art or didn’t have time for it but because as I was getting older taking an art class had became something that was forced upon me. It certainly …show more content…
It was as if they spoke to me and only me. The back stories were so inspiring and I would have never thought that they would interest me as much as they did. I was being introduced to a whole new world and I was loving every bit of it. When going to pick up and pick out pieces for the show, the artist told us the story behind each painting. It felt so good to be able to actually see their vision when looking at their artwork and not just see colors and shapes thrown on a canvas. I also learned that art does not just consist of paintings and …show more content…
Poems that speak on someone’s life or beliefs or experience. So when I saw my friends writing poems it inspired me. I saw what they were writing and it sounded amazing. I had never seen this side of them before. It made me want to pick up my pen and start writing so, I did. It felt so different to me. But it was a good different. I was never one to put my emotions out on paper or show anybody how I truly felt but I liked this. I learned that poems are a form of art. Poems are a beautiful form of art. They speak volumes when they come from the heart and it’s the best feeling when you can relate to them. The best part about it is that there is no right or wrong when creating art. Art has a way of telling a story whether it is a painting of fairies, which brings a sense of peace, but obviously, fairies are not real, or a painting of a old woman sitting in a rocking chair may show age as beauty, to a portrait of a soldier showing history. All of these are pictures but all show something different to people, and every person depending on who they are may look at each picture a little bit…

Poetry is a way for people to express their inner most thoughts and feelings. When I read poems, I feel as if I can feel exactly what the author is feeling. Edward Hirsch believes “a reader of poetry is a kind of pilgrim setting out, setting forth” as explained in his article, “To the Reader Setting Out”. Hirsch compared a reader to a pilgrim in his article. In his article, he stated, “Reading poetry is an adventure in renewal, a creative act, a perpetual beginning, a rebirth of wonder.”…

Critique Project Upon taking music, I never thought I would have ever learned so much about the history and importance of fine arts not just in America, but also around the world. Art has a whole new meaning to me, one of which opens my eyes to the every day sights of life. The definition of art is “the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as a painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.” Although that is the true definition of art, I truly feel that there is so much more to it than that. To me, art is a connection one makes to express his or her emotions or feelings, whether people like it or not has no importance to most…

Not only did AP Art History solidify my passion for the study of history through the lens of art, it has positively influenced my own artwork. History has become my foremost artistic muse. The class discussions were one of my favorite aspects of the class. These classroom exchanges not only energized me and motivated me to further explore the different perspectives discussed through additional outside study, but, with the teacher’s encouragement and support, pushed me to voice my thoughts and opinions with confidence.…

I have come from a country where we don't have art museums at all. In fact, the people of my country do not give importance to art at all, although if you look at traditional clothes, houses it's full of art yet they do not notice that. This is my first Art class that I am taking so, I believe that I do see art a little bit different than those who had experience in the past. I see arts in many ways. When I used to say to my friends and family that even the pictures we are taking even that consider as art.…

On the corner of 8th and F street lies the grand Smithsonian American Art museum, it stands three stories high with impeccable architecture inside and out, withholding some of the most antique and modern works of American art. For some locals, the most iconic places in Washington, D.C are the White House, the National Mall,or the United States Capitol. However, I myself, believe the most iconic place in Washington, D.C is the galleries within every Smithsonian museum. It was there in the Smithsonian American Art Museum that I found the calling that has stirred my ambitions throughout my high school career. I discovered my eye for art and my ability to understand the aesthetics involved with creating a masterpiece within those white gallery walls.…

    Art And The Good Analysis

    • 1143 Words

In the grand ideas of justice and “the good” a disputed concept is the notion of goodness and the former being mutually exclusive. However, this may be a misconception. Justice and “the good” are not necessarily good, we have been taught the world is much more complex than that, and society is filled with as many uncertainties as it is filled with people. This complexity is similar in their relation to art, the practice of art does have a relation to these ideas, but art may serve them in a variety of ways, throughout the moral spectrum of good. This makes the claims many theorists have that “art will deflect us from ethical behavior” a valid one, but while it may be valid as a point, it does not necessarily make their stances on art being…

Throughout this course I have gained more of an appreciation for artwork and the artists that create them. I have also gained an appreciation for the people that try to define what art is in general or more specifically what makes good art. We have read great thinkers and their philosophies on this, and the fact that even people of such great intelligence can disagree on the subject proves how challenging it can be. By reading the opinions of these great thinkers, and by discussing their thought with our class, I feel I am in a much better place as to define what makes good art myself. I define art as anything created by someone that inspires another to appreciation.…

If someone would say to me six months ago, let’s plan a trip to the museum I would gladly say no as art is not something that peaks my interests. However, my perception has changed after registering for Art Appreciation this semester. The class has proven the point that judging anything that one doesn’t understand is wrong. Thus, it has opened my eyes not just to the artwork itself, but also to the life and legacy of the artists. In that same token, art is truly the window into the people’s souls which I find fascinating.…

“For very young children, making art -- or just talking about it- provides opportunities to learn words for colors, shapes, and actions” (Lynch). It is vital for a child to learn the importance of art early in their life so that they can choose whether or not they will be dedicated to pursue a career involving art skills. Learning about these basic forms of art at an early age gives children more insight in preparation for their educational life. “Although some may regard art education as a luxury, simple creative activities are some of the building blocks of child development” (Lynch). Students involved in simple creative activities within their peers can affect their emotional status and gives a more comforting feeling being around others that have similar qualities of enjoyment.…
