I Want Your Love: Pornography or Should it be Considered Something Else
In modern society, pornographic representations are growing to become more acceptable in all aspects of life. Alongside this progression, the expanse of the pornographic genre has been increasing dramatically in the past few years. Pornography is defined as any material that depicts human sexuality with the purpose to cause sexual excitement. I believe this definition gives an oversimplification of pornography that leaves room for speculation about the material’s purpose.
The longer version of the film I Want Your Love features graphic depictions of homosexuality that is heavily supplemented with character development and story progression. The

I was surprised to hear James had a degree in nursing and how independent and cautious he was with his practice. I was particularly interested in the fact that he has 3 separate names to use for varying situations to isolate his work from his life. Personally, I was astounded to hear he had refused to engage in role-playing pedophilia and bestiality simply because he did not want to advocate people to explore those desires. Beforehand, I had thought that sex workers always had a price with few exceptions, but James did renounce a fair amount of sexual actions. But what I found truly bewildering was that many people would pay to perform oral sex on James. I believe I found this shocking because I did not expect so many people could gain enough gratification from performing oral to want to pay for it. Some things that I did expect was how unemployment had played a part in his decision to join the sex trade and his weekly income while being a prostitute. Despite the confusion I felt at times, I also experienced times of amusement. When James said that some customers will deny that they want anything sexual while making suggestive statements that they do; I felt it was such a ridiculous cliché interaction. Another moment that helped ease the interview was the depiction of the man who would pay for grapefruit themed showers. I was expecting some unconventional sexual acts, but that was …show more content…
One such occasion is the research study by Hald and Malamuth that looked at whether pornography lead to aggression. I find a personal interest in the negative effects of pornography and was hoping to talk in depth about the topic. Since pornography addiction can lead to some serious health problems I am surprised it did not come up when looking at the study or at other times during the class. However, a limitation of the conversation on porn addiction is that there is no universally accepted definition of what is considered porn addiction. Currently the only measure of porn addiction is adopted from the definition of addiction. Addiction is defined as compulsive engagement in pleasurable stimuli despite adverse outcomes. I believe this is lacking in definition due to the problems that may arise with relationship attachment before adverse outcomes can be observed.
Although, I presume that if you’re looking at any type of addiction you already understand there is a negative impact. Therefore, it would be more educational to look at the effects of modest use rather than look at addiction which may create a negative outlook by students towards pornography. Since there is already a lack of sexual expression and education in Western culture maybe a look at modest use was more

Cultural construction of sexuality can be defined as the view that perceptions and attitudes towards sexuality varies due to the diversification in values and practices amongst various cultures. In this essay, I will argue that sexuality is culturally constructed and explore the different ways in which it is perceived and understood, as well as analysing the reasons for these differences. Firstly, I will look at sexually restrictive cultures and discuss how religion and ethos cause some cultures to have strict morals and beliefs regarding sexuality. Secondly, I will go on to look at sexually permissive cultures and explore how some cultures have greater freedom and openness towards sexuality, exploring the alternative connotations of sexual…

The biggest problems in America that I’ll briefly go over are drug addiction, depression, and education. Education is the stronghold to solving predicaments within a community as well as worldwide. As different as every person can be we are still one thing, a human. A special thing about us is that we can share a bond, an emotion, and I believe we’ve become cultural psychopaths who don’t empathize with people who are different from us. Disclaimer:…

I had a hard time picking an event to attend for this assignment because I wanted to attend something that would be meaningful for me, not just a menial task for an assignment. After looking through various events and cross referencing with the pre-approved list, I realized that watching the documentary, Generation Found , would be a productive move. Generation Found really fascinated me because it really connected with a social and ongoing problem not only in the United States as a whole, but in local communities as close as my own home, as well, peaking my interest as a sociology major.…

Sexual addiction is a disorder that can have a causing distress to people of difference classes of their life and upbringing. Dr. Laaser, book Healing the Wounds of Sexual Addiction, confirms that people are living a secret life of sexual addiction which some people know they have the problem, but a good amount has no idea what could be happening to them. The strangest thing to this addiction is that it is not happening to one group of people. It does not matter what a person economic background might be, it does not matter what a person racial background might be, nor this sin is not just on the sinner, there are many of Christians who fall in the category also (Laaser, 2004).…

While doing so, it teaches male and female viewers that women should be inferior, compliant individuals. Dr. Bressi, a victim of sexual assault that featured in Price of Pleasure, stated that being forced to view porn was meant to teach her, “how to be subservient, how to degrade [herself]”. Porn has the ability to do so because it portrays women as vulnerable, submissive beings that depend on men for their importance, otherwise feeling useless. Female performers in pornographic scenes get into their roles in ways such as shouting objectifying lines about being further manhandled which makes viewers think they tolerate how they are being treated. While many performers are simply acting the part, some truly to do tolerate it because they look at their role as part of their career in the industry.…

Natalie, thank you for your discussion this week. My research is on the same subject of addiction however it pertains to the effects it has on preteens. I can agree that addiction in general is a huge part of the American culture, but at the same time addiction is something that affects other cultures but may not be openly as discussed as Americans. I agree that addictions can be a tricky when conducing research because their may be information that is revealed that requires MFT’s to respond quickly to ensure safety of the individual or the parties involved. Pornography The pornographic industry has a reputation of being a causal factor in the degradation of women for the satisfaction of the current patriarchal society. Feminist Helen Longino defines pornography as the “verbal or pictorial explicit representations of sexual behavior that… have as a distinguishing characteristic ‘the degrading and demeaning of the role and status of the human female as a mere sexual object to be exploited and manipulated sexually’” (106). She distinguishes pornography from what she considers to be a more acceptable form of sexual imagery that she labels as erotica.…

I do not have a friend or family member that I know of having any non-chemical addictions, but I ran into a lady that voluntarily vented some of her personal business. While I do not know this person at all, she began telling me about her flaws. She expressed to me that she was a very sexual person and that her and her boyfriend enjoyed sodomy. The women expressed that she loved it so much that it happened a few times a day, if not then she would find other alternatives to get that feeling that she wanted. This type of sexual behavior affects her thought process during the day, because when she gets the urges, she mentioned she starts daydreaming or and lose focus of what she was doing.…

Sexual addiction is a wide spread issue that exists in present day times. Very seldom people have the courage to speak openly about their issues, or what could possibly be a potential addiction in their lives. One of the main misconceptions is that men are the only genders that suffer with this problem, however, women are also victims of this very issue as well. In today's society, sexual exploitation is almost everywhere such as in magazines, television, the internet, books, and in music. According to Clinton (2005), "Abuse can take two forms: invasive types (such as being sexually molested, physically hit, or emotionally yelled at) and abandonment types (sometimes called neglect)"…
