I Want To Work In Elementary Or High School

Improved Essays
Boys are so much fun, aren’t they? I have one boy myself and I told my husband I was afraid to have another baby because it might be a boy. I have a special place in my heart for special education teachers. I worked as a teacher’s assistant in a special education class and it was defiantly challenging, but rewarding at the same time. I’m also trying to decide if I want to work in elementary or high school. Most of my experience is in elementary school, however I really enjoy helping students transition into post grade school life. When I was in school my high school counselor helped me so much I want to be able to do the same.

I watched an OTA come to school everyday and work with these children to help them write better and kick a ball so they could go to P.E. with us. I thought to myself what an amazing job opportunity this would be to let people know that they can do anything they set their mind to.…

This transition will be difficult but I am also ready to make the change in efforts to further my career and in order to reach my professional goals. Some researchers believe that the fact that most teachers are women, who often lack training about special educational needs of boys, contributes significantly to boys’ disengagement (Piechura-Couture, Heins, & Tichenor,…
