I Want To Pursue My Criminal Justice Degree

Improved Essays
Hello everyone,

I currently serve in the military and have honestly attempted to complete this Criminal Justice degree for years. Every time I was on a roll, life in general happened with deployments and Permanent Duty Station moves and once again I would push my studies aside. Two years ago, I realized that military retirement was in the near future and I needed to put all my free time and energy to getting my Bachelor’s Degree. My wife and I prayed about what direction I needed to take to complete this goal. As I started to write down and plan how many classes I was going to take per 8 weeks, I finally realized that it was doable. Now, with God’s grace, I should be finished by Spring of next year. I also plan on utilizing dual enrollment

Although being a bit hesitant to go with my schedule and the time of the lecture not in agreement, I was able to go and was more than pleased with the lecture. Not only did Wade Chittam physically leave his mark on the University of South Carolina at Lancaster he also left an emotional one. With the genuine claps given and all the recaps several professors and Chittam retold there wasn’t a better ambient in such return to the university he so strongly aided. With a general summary of his life taking half of the lecture and the other half reminiscing the past with stories Chittam was more than happy to be back. Dating back to 1968 when Chittman first arrived to USCL as an inexperienced but determined teacher only to prove peers wrong after getting rid of the handful of lecture flashcards before his first class.…

July 11, 2011. I departed for United States Marine Corps boot camp at Marine Corps Depot San Diego, California. The events I went through are the toughest moments I have ever encountered in my twenty-one years. Yelling, organization and speed were constantly the instructor’s purpose.…

Prior to beginning the masters of occupational therapy program it was as if I was an ancient wanderer in the dark ages, eager to learn new ideas and discover new places not sure what the world would throw at me next. Over the next eight years I found myself at a series of personal crossroads one encounters during life’s journey. Not the crossroad where one sells their soul to the devil for some magical power. It was more of one of those forks in the road, a kin to the Robert Frost Poem, where one path leads to life A and the other leads to life B. Crossroads that impacted my future, shaped who I am and my character, influenced life changes, which led to a transition that will influence me and my family for generations to come. I come from…

The thirst for knowledge has driven me ever since I could remember. Since early on, the study of science and geography have been passions of mine. Since I would frequently travel and move across the United States while I was younger due to my father’s military career, at first science and geography topics would merely keep me occupied when moving from one place to another. However, these passions soon molded my plans in life. Starting from the fourth grade, I began to hone these interests into a skill.…

I’ve had many positive experiences in my life, but my experience joining the Air Force and completing Basic Training had the greatest impact. I did not take high school seriously, because I signed to join the Air Force in my junior year of high school. Since I knew where I was going, I did not feel the need to apply myself in all my classes. I did just enough to graduate high school. Then September came, the month I left to Basic Military Training.…

An event in my life that will influence my academic goals at CCU was the passing of my mother on 09/16/2015. She passed so suddenly that we weren’t prepared, neither mentally nor financially. We didn’t know how we were going to pay for her services but God allowed generous people to be moved to donate to our memorial fund. We reached our goal and then some and it was just so inspiring, I felt God was with me and my siblings every step of the way. When she passed God gave me His peace and allowed me to grieve supernaturally quickly.…

I was born in Germany with a German mother and an American father. The benefit of being born into a German family and living in Europe for the first ten years of my life was the greatest privilege I experienced throughout my sixteen years of living. However, my father was in the military at the time causing for a slight pressure to always be prevalent for the duration of my younger years. This mainly revolved around the fact that my sister was able to grow up in Germany and I wanted that same opportunity. Soon after these aspirations were formed, they became mere dreams that never would be fulfilled because my dad was given orders to either move to Mississippi or Oklahoma, which both deemed to be the middle-of-nowhere.…

One of the major strengths I’ve discovered is my robust ability to debate and argue. Although sometimes this can be one of my best assets it can also be one of my down falls. This is what led me to the career choice of choosing Jurisprudence as the pathway for me. Another strength that I’ve discovered is my ability to understand different government processes.…
