My interest in medicine was first sparked when I volunteered at CentraState Medical Center working with geriatric patients. To further explore this interest, I joined the First Aid Squad in my town. Riding on ambulances and volunteering at the squad provided much-needed insight into the field and taught me valuable skills, such as patient care and effective communication. After completing a four-month intensive EMT course and state exam, I can proudly say that I am now a New Jersey certified EMT.…

By its (slightly strange, quasi-academic, mildly competitive) nature, Academic Games attracts a wide variety of people. Some of these people are a pleasure to meet; indeed, some of my best friends today are people I have met through Academic Games. Others, however, are slightly less fun to interact with. To inform companies of zero day vulnerabilities is a mixed motive, on one hand the hacker can let the company know of the vulnerability or they can sell it for a price. Letting the company know they are vulnerable without wanting to be compensated in return is an ethical thing to do. But some gray hats keep it to themselves unless they are compensated fairly which leads more into a very dark shade of gray, one isn’t using the vulnerability for personal gain by exploiting it but is using the knowledge ot it to get money. A great example is recently the FBI paid gray hat hackers for a zero day vulnerability to unlock a terrorist’s iPhone.…
