Writing was a way in which the community could express itself which is why the writing and art that stemmed from the Harlem Renaissance period was so powerful. Unlike the traditional style of this period, “I Want To Die While You Love Me” was a poem that is strictly about love. The poems shows that the love the couple has for each other is neverending and the couple wants to carry this love with them until they die. “I want to die while you love me,” (line 1) implies that one wants to die with their significant other loving them.
