I have wanted to be a priest since the first time I read the bible. I spend most of my time praying, fasting, and reading the bible. However, I am a black man that lives in the South and sadly I have been in slavery my whole life. My mother has always wanted what was best for me. She even tried to hide me at birth but it did not work. My dad was not around during my life and that makes me think that he ended up how I will. I would like to be free but I know that my owner would find me and kill me. I am afraid to stand up to my master or any white man but I know that there was no option after seeing blood on the cornstalks in the field.
