I decided to become an Army officer because I wanted to have a better future for myself and my family. Becoming an Army officer will come with many rewards. I cannot think of a better job to have than being an officer in the greatest army on the planet. Being an officer in the Alabama National Guard also gives me a chance to not only serve my country but also to serve my community and my state. A key moment for me when deciding if the Army was right for me or not were the storms of April 27, 2011. After seeing all of the devastation, the first people out there helping were members of the National Guard. That day was personal for me because my girlfriend lost her house to the storms. The next time a major disaster hits, I want to be there and be able to help someone when they need it the …show more content…
In addition to serving my country and my community, I want to become an Army officer to give my family and me a better future. I am going to school for criminal justice and to make it to where I want to be in my career, I will probably have to work as a police officer on the streets of some city. Having the extra income of the National Guard will be appreciated since I will not be making much as a police officer. My soon-to-be fiancé is in school for education currently. Being a teacher will also not yield a large salary. Money is not everything but, being able to live comfortably is a must. Another reason I want to become an officer is that becoming an officer will help with my civilian career. Going into the field of criminal justice, all jobs are competitive. Having the ability to say that I am an officer in the National Guard in an interview or on a resume is a huge advantage. Also, by becoming an officer, or simply being in the Army, I can go to graduate school knowing the Army will help me out with the costs. Having a master’s degree is another huge advantage in the field

The U.S. Army had been under a magnifying glass since the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. As a result, the Secretary of the Army and the Army Chief of Staff gave directives that the Commanding General of the Training and Doctrine Command lead a review of the Army as a profession from changes that had taken place since the beginning of the wars. The Army as a Profession of Arms is still not defined concretely. My perception of the Army as a Profession of Arms is that we are citizens, volunteers, trained to eliminate the enemy, and entrusted with a moral ethic and duty to serve and protect the rest of the populous of our great nation. We, as volunteers in our profession, have answered a calling that we are committed to something greater and…

I believe myself to be of both strong mind and body, and I accredit this to my commitment to my school, my work, and my training. I graduated top ten percent of my class in High School and Magna Cum Laude in college and I continually try to increase the diversity of my knowledge so to become a better rounded person. I majored in Criminology and Criminal Justice and minored in Psychology, so through convention teaching methods I have gained a firm grip in the Social Sciences; however, its through my work experience that I have really grown.…

Every year we celebrate Veterans Day on November 11th. Veterans Day is a day where we honor the men and women, dead or alive who served in the military. There are four different branches of the military; Army, Air Force, Navy, and Marines, and each branch plays a unique role in our country. When I discovered the benefits of the military, like free college after 36 months, or amazing Medicare, I thought, “I should join the military!” When I hear the word military, the first thing that comes to my mind is “justice”.…
