Personal Statement: A Career In Residential Architecture

Architecture is a very broad field to pursue as a career; there are many different things you can do to be considered an architect. The field and study of my interest, as far as architecture, obtains to turning blueprints into residential buildings that are “works of art”. The architecture of buildings can be defined as, “The process and the product of planning, designing, and the construction of buildings.” The anatomy of buildings within architecture takes the knowledge of art and science to have a successful project. You can do multiple things to be considered an architect, it’s only producing blueprints of residential buildings that make me want to be an architect. Furthermore, there are millions of buildings in the world, many of which are very different, my focus of interest stays within the residential area of architecture. Residential architecture is, “A discipline within the architecture field which focuses on the design of residences, ranging from single family homes to apartment complexes.” Residential architecture, as from commercial architecture, isn’t as bold as the focus of buildings are much smaller. Residential architects must take a lot of things into consideration like: building codes, safety issues, floor plans, and that the building is functional and safe. Viewing architectural blueprints for the first time growing up excelled me to want to be an architect even more, while I already found interest in the process behind residential buildings. Growing up, learning more and more about architecture, I never seemed to lose interest in architecture. Many professions that I once seemed interested in wasn’t appealing to me any more, not like architecture was.
