I finished my Bachelor’s in three and a half years while working full time and serving in the US Coast Guard Reserve. My professional plan is to become a Family Nurse Practitioner to be able to expand my skills and knowledge. My goal as an FNP is to effectively communicate, assess, diagnose, educate, and follow up with patients to provide an established relationship. I have a personal goal to increase my confidence as a health care provider and learn nursing skills at a graduate level. Attending OU’s FNP program will help me further my education to be able to provide the leadership and knowledge as a Nurse Practitioner in both my military and civilian careers. The asynchronous learning of the program allows for pursuing my goals while continuing my military career and the ability to apply what is learned during my daily medical care. Ohio University’s mission to promote excellence in the profession of nursing and to provide education experiences to be able to enhance the health of diverse communities make it my choice graduate program. The vision of an Ohio University Graduate who is a highly competent practitioner, leader, and scholar who is committed to human caring within a climate of diversity is something to take pride and confidence
