Working in a dental office for 5 years and experiencing first hand the life of a dental hygienist, has expanded my dreams to pursue this career. I am so intrigued and excited about dentistry, as well as the experience of helping others by relieving their pain as well as fixing their dental problems. Another great aspect of being apart of this field is to help others achicive confidence in their smiles. Making a difference in peoples lives is what drives me in life. On a daily basis, I see people come in and out of the office with complete transformation in there happiness. Some come in with pain and leave relieved, others come in who don't smile due to their embarrassment, but leave with the biggest smiles you have ever seen. My passion …show more content…
People have always told me that I will never amount to anything, because of where and who I come from. Neither one of my parents graduated high school and both are/were strung out on drugs. My mom unfortunately was shot years ago, due to the abusive people she surrounded us with. As for myself, I want to prove to myself and others that you can become anything your heart desires regardless of where you come from. Seeing the stuggles that both my parents have gone through, has sparked my ambition to become someone different. I want to help people understand the quote by Charles R Swindoll "Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it." This is a quote that I strongly live by. I have had many trials and tribulations in my life, but the way I have reacted and never gave up is how I survived. In this corruped world I dont just want to survive, I want to rise above and be a positve leader for my generation. One of the most important ways to follow this dream is with a good eduacation, followed by determination. I think I deserve this scholarship, because I could be a positive role model for others that have had a similar discouraging
