When I hear people talking about being downtown, my mind instantly thinks of all the great smells of the food in Riverpark Square. It is so nice to have the variety of choices, if I am in the mood for Sushi, Mexican, or bistro food. I could go on, and on …show more content…
Although meatal does not have a necessarily pleasing smell, it still has a smell. This smell guides our attention towards the architecture its self. The two pieces that are featured in Riverpark Square hold a true meaning of memory to me. The first piece are the runners, that are located just outside the the mall, and the second is the two story fountain which you can’t miss. The runners in the park hold a spot in my memory bank because of what they stand for no pun intended, and why they were created. David Govedare the artist created these runners to celebrate the tradition of Bloomsday, and he had this to say “You 're sharing something when you participate in this.” (Sculpture) I really love what he had to say when he was gaining his inspiration. He goes on to say that we are not in it to win, we are sharing and carrying on the tradition, and I love the runners because I have been in sharing the tradition with others for as long as I can remember. When ever I walk past them in the park I smell the metal, and makes me remember the races I have done. Second sculpture is the two story fountain. This one does not give a metal smell, but the smell of chlorine to keep the water clean. And when you drive past it in the summer time you really can’t miss the smell. This fountain adds a little bit of extra excitement for people to enjoy. During the spring, and summer months this fountain is in full blast with its stunning geysers. You can hear all of the screams, and laughter of the children that play in the fountain. I remember when I was a kid you could hear my screams and laughter, and now that I am an adult it brings back memories when I hear such excitement over water.
