For my Service Learning Project, I volunteered at All Faith Community Services Food Bank and Resource Center. This agency is a non-profit organization who aims to serve low-income families in Buckeye, Arizona. There are multiple parts of this organization which makes it a great place for low-income families to go when they are in need of help. All Faith Community Services operates a food bank which serves anywhere between seventy and ninety people (families) a day. Once a month a family can come in and get an emergency clothing bag which has a shirt, pants and shoes in it. Or if they are in need of just a certain item they can request what it is they need. All Faith Community Services also has a thrift store called Forgotten Treasures which has items prices at a very low price. There are other programs which All Faith Community Services operates as well that I was not a part of but hope to be able to help with in the future. They have a S.T.E.P.S to work program which helps their clients train to join the workforce; a farmer’s market which is a free monthly distribution of fruits and vegetables on the first Wednesday of every month and lastly Family Services which can aid clients in applications for food stamps, medical benefits, Medicare/Medicaid and tutoring for school of GED testing.
