I Ve Been To The Mountaintop Analysis

Every day when most people get up in the morning, they focus in bringing the best out of themselves and the lives of their close family members. Martin Luther king Jr. was a well-educated man with a bachelor of arts degree in sociology, bachelor of divinity, and a PhD on theology. Dr. King was focused in bringing a positive change to the entire African American Community. Dr. King was a confident man who grew up during the racial discrimination period and he did not like what was happening. Being a leader of Civil Rights movement, he decided to prove a point that all men are equal and people should not be discriminated according to their race. King was assassinated. His audience were black sanitation workers who were on strike, church goers, and Civil Rights participants who wanted to fight for their rights and to live a life without discrimination. Dr. King knew he would not always be around. He made purpose of the speech to encourage his followers to have hope and not give up because it was not going to be easy. This is shown when he says “And He's allowed me to go up to the mountain. And I've looked over. And I've seen the Promised Land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people, will get to the Promised Land” (Colaiaco,2006). King did not know what would happen but he knew there would be some hard times ahead. By saying that he had seen the promised land, gives his audience a feeling of hope. The audience would even get more focused because he said that God had allowed him to see the promised land, therefore, this makes them feel that God a super being was on their side hence which made that which seemed impossible, seem
