This life is referred to as the recipe for a “good life.” But it seems more difficult to grasp than the first one. Knowing your strength and weakness as a person, as a human, as a husband or a wife is so important in maintaining a good and healthy life. This life requires you to open up about the strengths that you possess and using them. Use them as much as you can and the re write your story with those strengths as a headline. Use those strengths at work, at home, when deciding on how to parent and with friendships. The third “happy” is the Meaning life. This one relates to the good life where you must pay attention to your highest strengths and use them with and during something that is larger than yourself. If my highest strength is caring for people then it would be the most beneficial for me to get into a field where I am helping people in need. But how does someone find all of these “strengths” that Dr. Seligman refers to? One must search for them. One must experience different thing and find out what they are good or not good at. I believe both obedience and discipline are completely necessary in order to succeed in your workplace and your schooling. Every time I clock into work I am required to follow a set of rules, a set of guidelines to insure that my work environment is safe for not only myself but for my patients as well. There are very clear expectations to my job in regards to patient care and proper skills that I need to perform. I realize what is expected of me every time I am with a patient. Be kind, be compassionate, and be caring. My job is a commitment of mine to understand the rules whether that be HIPPA violations or lab processing instructions and follow them. I am constantly learning in my work environment and it is crucial to use those skills to better understand my experience. Obedience in school is what keeps me in check. Alicia Tait states in her video about Obedience that it is similar to a syllabus received from a professor. A set of guidelines written out, expectations that that professor has for her students to follow in order to succeed in that course. You have rules right in front of you and your job is to learn something, you learn something and then how do you use it? What do you do with the information that you have received?
