I Pursue My Master Degree Analysis

When looking back at my life it seems I always knew I would go to college. It wasn’t something that was forced upon me by my parents but when you have a mother who has been going to school your whole life school is normal. My mom has obtained three masters degrees and is on her way to a doctorate right now. Growing up, I was the only American in my family, my mom was an international student and getting all of her masters was her way of my siblings having a better education. Though I know why she kept going to school, in looking within myself I have always felt like she was a large tree casting a shadow on me, never to have accomplishments as great as her. As I got older I began to find myself in things my mother liked. Politics and social issues being two examples; I can remember debates between Bush and Kerry in 2004 and actually being conscious enough to have an opinion in 2008. I would sit with her while she worked on her dissertation watching CNN, MSNBC, and Bloomberg. I had a zeal for politics and social issues. I was ready to pursue something of my own, I want to use the degree I would earn from your program to fight injustices I see in the world, I would like to be on the right side of history. Like Martin Luther King said, “An injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” As an undergraduate I am getting a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice majoring in Public Safety Management, which is my first step in learning how to fight against inequality. But getting a Masters in Public Affairs with a concentration in Public management would make me well rounded. I would want to work in each field, first in public safety then public management. Working in the public safety field than transitioning over I believe would make writing policies that encompass the best options for all sides
