I Need You Now
“I Need You Now,” by Lady Antebellum, was featured in the 2012 film Zero Dark Thirty, and it was used in television series such as Hellcats and The Glades. The song tells a realistic story about a man and a woman who loved each other, but their pride kept them apart. In the beginning, the woman sings about all of the "Picture perfect memories scattered all around the floor" (line 1,2). All of the perfect things they've done together, came to an end. She missed him, and now she's broken. The man and woman, both want to be with each other. They missed each other a lot. Furthermore, they lose control, and they don't know what to do without each other. They need each other. Both the man and woman wonder if they were ever on each

Therefore, it appeals to the general public, being a popular track on several hit radio stations. It won four Grammy Awards in 2011, including Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals, and Best Country Song. The speakers talked about feeling lonely at night, and needing their partner. Although the sound of the music is not typical for popular music today, it does have the typical lovesick song, where two people love each other, but their pride is keeping them apart. The song’s sad story matches its melancholy musical accompaniment. Listeners hear of the emotions when the woman sings, “It's a quarter after one, I'm all alone and I need you now” (lines 6,13, and 17). It's very repetitive because it shows how they could've been together if they didn't have abundant ego. They may also sense that they might get back together when they keep singing, “I don't know how I can do without, I just need you now,” (lines 8, 15, and 19). The song has a very smooth and melodic tone. It sounds very calm and relaxing, and it inspires thought, and the audience is thrown into the shoes of either the man or woman. What they're feeling is a very common feeling for people who've been in a

In the advertising industry there are numerous schemes and strategies to increase the sale of products in stores, magazines, television and even on the radio. Unfortunately, advertisers do not simply stick to selling to adults, they too target innocent children. They become the perfect target as advertisers take advantage of child vulnerability and the lack of knowledge, to convince them they need or want the product. As Jean Kilbourne states in the extract from her book Can't Buy My Love How Advertising Changes the Way We Think and Feel , “ Not only are children influencing a lot of spending in the present, they are developing brand loyalty and the beginnings of an addiction to consumption that will serve corporations well in the future.” Many individuals grow up and their love for a specific brand follows.…

As the video progresses on a scene of the singer coming by to the bar to see his girl he find her suddenly cuddled up to another man! This leaves him devastated and he starts to lose the love he had for her and tries to gain back her love by serenating her. At this point is when I knew little by little that this song was telling my story, because after many arguments me and my partner had I had always tried to do something special for her, not like serenating her, but like asking her to go out to watch a movie, get her a little gift, something to let her know that I truly appreciated her and loved her even though we…

While my parents traveled to and from work everyday, there were a couple of songs they may have heard quite often due to their popularity. If they happened to be listening to the radio when I was born, they more than likely heard the number one song “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” by Aerosmith (“Birthday No #1.”), which won the MTV Movie Award for Best Song from a Movie (“Aerosmith Awards.”). Diane Warren, the songwriter, became nominated for an Oscar for the Best Music from an Original Song, won the ASCAP Award for Most Performed Songs from Motion Pictures, and was even nominated for the Grammy Best Song written Specifically for Motion Picture or for Television (“Diane Warren Awards.”). Other songs they may have heard could have been “Candle in the Wind” by Elton John or even “Truly Madly Deeply” by Savage Garden ("90s Hits – Billboard #1s.”). Other than listening to songs, my parents often found themselves sitting on a comfortable couch watching a hit TV show.…

Working at a job they don’t like, in a town they don’t like, surrounded by people they don’t like.…

The lyrics joined with the alternative style of instrumentation makes for an odd combination. The message originally takes a lofty feel, suggesting that love could be a game of sorts. The artists’ incorporation of “Stand By Me” evolves the sentiment of the message. The playful tone of the song continues, but gives the message a more sarcastic impression. The facetious happiness of the message gives promise to the heartache the singer is truly feeling.…

This song talks about the speaker who is abused by her boyfriend but she stands by him because she loves him. This is similar to when we find out that Mayella was abused by her father but still loves him because well, it’s her father. They both show unhealthy relationships and how bad things can be at home. The mood in both of this song and the book is desperate. They are both desperate for love and will do anything to stay by their family/man.…

Wild, this book in itself, was a journey for me; at first not appreciating the book nor the story it held, but after reading it I saw why it is highly talked about. Not only was the story interesting, but it was the way Cheryl Strayed wrote it that made it come to life. Wild does not just tell a journey, but makes you feel as if you are on the journey yourself. Strayed wrote Wild from her life story, but almost each sentence had some kind of parallel meaning to it. The main theme I thought that was an important one was how Cheryl carried a burden with her throughout her life and used the PCT to overcome it.…
