Public Health Mission Statement

Superior Essays
I majored in Public Health, because I simply wanted to help make somebody else life a little more better. I knew since I was little that I wanted to be somewhere in the health field, but I was not sure where. Hands on medicine I knew I couldn’t handle, so that just left me working behind the scene, but still saving somebody life. With this degree I could work at so many jobs at the government or non-government organization level.
My first dream place to work at is the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Which I think is almost every public health major dream place to work at or at least internship with. The CDC, a federal level job under the Department of Health and Human Services. What I would love about working at this job is protecting the world from variety of disease that threat us every day from Malaria, to the new Zika virus, and other dangerous threats. It would give a key role into saving somebody life. It would give me a chance to work with other dedicated people to keep citizens of America healthy and safe. Which is also part of the CDC mission statement. Which is to work around clock, 24/7 to keep the citizens of America safe from any disease that is foreign, or local.

Another important factor in my life that started my interest into the science of biology was my mother, who has a genetic anemia called Fanconi Anemia. She has lived with this genetic disease for all of her life and it has had a toll on her quality of life.
