Its been a tradition in my family to go skiing every single year and i always take it upon myself to do every single run on the mountain. There is only about 75 marked runs so it only takes me about 2 days to do the whole mountain, that's not including the ridge runs or back country. Bridger Bowl comes with a lot of choices with how inexpensive it can be, you can get some amazing tree runs or just chill out in the Terrain Park. I began participating in winter guard in middle school. I mostly just used it as a pastime because I wasn’t involved with any dance classes or sports. When I got to high school, I did color guard and winter guard. These began as great experiences, but as the team began to grow and become more successful, our instructor became extremely overbearing. We eventually began practicing roughly 30 hours a week.…

Jake Burton Jake Burton is the owner and founder of Burton Snowboards. The growth and popularity snowboarding sees today is directly related to Burton, as it was his vision and perseverance that has made the sport into a worldwide success story. Jake did not invent snowboarding, but instead capitalized on a product called the “snurf”, a freestanding board with a rope and no bindings, where the rider could slide down hills with little control. Jake saw immediate potential for an industry and sport, but not by the “snurfing” company who marketed their product as if it was a “hula hoop or something”. After a failed attempt at making the University of Colorado’s ski team, and a stint at grooming and exercising racehorses, Jake enrolled in New York University to study economics.…

I feel like I am a good candidate for this scholarship because, as a senior, any and all money earned and received will help me ease the burden of attending college. My goal throughout my whole childhood was to receive a full ride scholarship to the college of my dreams; however, as time has gone on and I have matured I have come to the realization that, that dream is not as achievable as I once believed it to be. I have worked hard, inside and outside of the classroom, making the grades and creating the resume that colleges are looking for, and in response I have been offered tuition waivers. Which ultimately means I am still responsible for paying for my books, room and board, part of the tuition cost, and mandatory fees.…
