I Love Nicole

As I looked out into the crowd at my book signing, I saw two familiar faces. Those two faces inspired my newest book. My book is a story about a woman, brought up in the bible belt of America, who had her whole life together. She was leading a successful career, and about to marry the man who she had spent the past ten years with. She was fulfilling all the prophecies her mom had projected on to her. But suddenly she realized that those things were not what she wanted. She wanted the beautiful dread lock dawning woman she had ran the tri-city marathon next to. As I studied Ayanna and Nicole from afar, I thought about why I loved them both so much. The love I had for each of them is separate and different. They’re meant to be. But what about that guy Nicole left at the altar? Well since I am him, I can say I’m doing well. Of course, I did not become this way overnight. I struggled with the idea of not being with Nicole for five years, and I was bitter because of the predicament that she had put me in. But, how can you stay mad at somebody you love so much and for so long. Then we went through the whole debacle of Nicole trying to “merge” her love for Ayanna and her love for me. The love triangle that existed in her dreams was finally a reality. That flame blew out very quickly, like a lit candle in a rainstorm.
