I Lost My Heros Journey

Decent Essays
Though the path is dark, only this task will bring me back to you.
With reckless abandonment I will continue.
Still haven't heard anything to realize,
I'm blind.

The darkness surrounds on all sides, but I will fear nothing.
For the promise in my grasp has taken me captive.
Your voice echoes with every step as the distance envelops my hope, and steals the horizon from my sight.
Though the whispers fight to claim my sanity, with the earth shaking under foot,
I will not lose sight or fall aside.
I will not stumble.
Many have fallen, all with tired eyes and a weary heart.
Tell me that you can hear me.
Please tell me you can hear me!
Prisoner to the silence that haunts me.
I am lost.
Lost my heart, lost my hope.

I am alone.
My screams are hanging;

The term “hero” has been around since the late fourteenth century; however, the term is of an uncertain origin (Etymology, paragraph 2). Based upon controversial etymology beliefs, Webster’s Dictionary defines a ‘hero’ as an individual that is admired for his or her great acts or fine qualities. According to Joseph Campbell, the author of The Hero with a Thousand Faces, an individual must go through the cycle of the hero 's journey. The life of a real life hero is reflected by the epic literary example “The Hero’s Journey” that is exhibited in the book The Hero with a Thousand Faces; therefore, a hero in today’s world must undergo the same twelve stages that are listed in “The Hero’s Journey.” The hero’s journey is known for telling…

King Arthur and Spiderman are two fictitious characters that are both similar, and dissimilar to each other. In an excerpt from Joseph Campbell’s The Hero with a Thousand Faces, he writes about monomyth, which is a twelve step process that is divided into four sections. This represents a continuous cycle that the character in the story must go through in order to complete their journey. King Arthur and Spiderman follow the cycle of the Heroes Journey by events in their lives made parallel to the cycle of the Heroes Journey. King Arthur and Spiderman, although from two different ends of the spectrum, are actually alike, both coming from epic tales of struggles and triumph.…

Thinking of his Sarah at home, warm and safe with Septimus and the boys, Silas decided that they would just have to make room for one more little one. He carefully tucked the baby into his blue Wizard cloak and held her close to him as he ran toward the Castle gate. He reached the drawbridge just as Gringe, the Gatekeeper, was about to go and yell for the Bridge Boy to start winding it up. "You're cutting it a bit fine," growled Gringe. The events in many stories follow a specific pattern in order to make the storyline interesting and relatable. Joseph Campbell calls this occurrence the monomyth or in other words, The Hero’s Journey. The Hero’s Journey is separated into three parts: The Departure, Initiation, and The Return. Each of these sections consist of smaller events that mostly all happen within stories that obey the rules of the monomyth. One of the multiple movies that exemplifies this is Mulan.…

Sitting at my desk, I stared down at my schoolwork while my mind remained static. Suddenly, I found myself beginning to radiate golden light as my body faded from existence; then before I knew it, I rematerialized out of thin air. This does not happen often, so I was rather confused as I stood atop a cloud, high up in the sky. That is, until I noticed a large, human-like figure appear before me in a holy light. He raised his hands and smiled down at me before bellowing out, “Behold, for it is I; Gabe Newell!”…
