We analyzed these rhetorical elements in a whole new way through these two sources. In Introduction to Composition we analyzed the use of ethos, pathos, and logos which was the second time I was introduced to the use of these rhetorical elements, the first was in high school in my Honors English Class. I’ve never had to look for these elements in a movie before which was the main difference in this class, and where I learned the most about these rhetorical elements. I learned about how to balance pathos with logos, and to wrap it all up in ethos. I learned the right and the wrong place for each rhetorical element and I learned the ways in which I can use them most affectively, by watching the film and reading the book. The film really opened my eyes to how everything included in the picture, not just what the people are saying in the documentary, really can affect the audience perception of the information at hand. Looking back at all I’ve learned, and what I was able to accomplish in the class gives me joy and pride. I never thought I would have learned so much from just one class. A major part of our society is all online, all texts, emails, and reading of other people’s thoughts. It is very important to learn how to communicate efficiently, appropriately, and to always consider the audience in which you are writing for. It also helps to look into the authors mind on why they wrote things the way they did, if they are credible enough for me to take their words to heart, and how much I can agree with with them based off their use of all the rhetorical elements. This class and the work I’ve completed in it will really help me throughout the rest of my courses as well as the rest of my life, and I’m very grateful to have had the opportunity to learn them from Professor
