“I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand.”
-Confucius (Philosopher, 551 BC - 479BC)
This quote teaches us that the only way to learn something is to do it by ourselves. If we just hear it, or see it, we might forget, or somehow remember. Just like the songs that we’ve heard and the movies that we’ve watched. We can just forget them all, but unlike if we experience the real thing or do the same thing, we can deeply understand everything that we need to know.
I can reflect this quote in my studies when sometimes I really can’t understand the lessons in some of my subjects. I’ve tried to focus in listening to my professor but I can’t really understand the lesson. Until I’ve decided to try it on my

Imagination is like our goals life, and these goals are our basis on what we want to be in the near future. So without imagination, life would be meaningless.
This quote for me was just telling me to keep on dreaming, and to keep on thinking of the best things that I can be in the near future. I know someday that I will achieve all my goals in life through hard work and dedications to the things that really matters.

Apology must come from our heart, to tell other person that we were really feel sorry about what had happen. It must be like swearing that it won’t happen again. Even though the excuse was the truth or not, it must not be said as a part of apology.
This quote was remarkable for me because I know in myself that I’m also the kind of person that uses excuses as an apology, and when I do that, they will be more upset with me. Maybe if I already knew this before, things will be really more different.

“It ain’t over till it’s over.”
-Yogi Berra (New York Yankees, 1925-) This quote is like telling us to keep fighting till we die. Many of us just try to give up so easily, and losing hopes and faith to themselves. But the real thing is, if it’s not yet over, we can still fight for it. Just be brave enough to face all problems that will come through your way. This quote reflects on my situation right now. We are having our thesis, and the deadline of defending of thesis is really near. The thesis is not yet done, but we know that it’s not yet over. We have enough time left to finish all things in

Richard Rodriguez, in the chapter in which the quote can be found, titled "Aria", writes repeatedly about the importance of intimacy with public and private language. Rodriguez mentions that intimacy can only be achieved in his life through the one language that he feels as if was a sort of secret one, Spanish. In my opinion, this quote bounces off a highly profound meaning. The reason why I say this is because I find it majorly interesting, the way that Richard Rodriguez sees the opinion of other people about mixing public life with private language; in other words using the language that transmits intimacy in a public place surrounded by people who speak other language that does not transmit anything close to intimacy. I find myself to be…

This quote inspires me to endure any hardships I experience for two reasons: it reminds me that there could be more difficult events I could face, and that my reward for enduring it will be a meaningful life experience. Because everyone experiences hardships in life, I can look at this quote and be reassured that I am not the only one with a certain problem, but I am also convinced that many people live through more severe events and therefore I can definitely withstand whatever life may give me. When I look at this quote, I recall all my past troubles and, more importantly, what I learned from those. The quote is similar in message to the “hang in there!”…

On August 17, 1998 President Bill Clinton delivered a speech to the American public addressing an inappropriate relationship with a former White House Intern, Monica Lewinsky. In comparison to Robert M. Eisingers “The Political Non-Apology” Clinton 's public apology has some of the characteristics of a full apology but, is predominantly a non-apology. Although, acknowledges the offense committed, he minimizes his offense throughout the speech and plays the victim card in attempts to potentially restore his reputation. At some points he attempts to apologize, but his choice of words diminish the effectiveness of his apology and his form of non-apologizing is used to his advantage. Clinton appears to meet some of the criteria of a full apology;…

Chapter One: “... but people aren't meant to be overly bright in everything.” (15) I selected this quote because it states something I need to keep in mind sometimes. I get extremely frustrated if I do not pick up on something right away or not at all; like origami or some math concepts. At the end of the day, it does not matter if someone excels at everything they do; what matters is that someone tried their best at everything they did. Chapter Two: “There’s nothing like a song about lost love to remind you how everything precious can slip from the hinges where you've hung it so careful.”…

Apologizing is usually what a person would do if they have done something wrong, or if they have personally hurt another individual. However, sometimes an apology is given when it is something that people have done in the past. There have been so many wrongs in the past that some people still feel the need to be apologizing for them, and some people still feel they are owed an apology from the governments of the involved countries. In “A Sorry State”, Mitch Miyagawa discusses the many apologies that have been given out by governments around the world and what those apologies truly accomplish. There has been an apology given for every war, every case of discrimination, and every misguided choice.…

The quote written above is a quote that I live by everyday because I feel that quote is what life is all about. The quote makes me think that everything in your life happens for a reason (having a purpose), you eventually grow in life from "good things fall apart so better things can fall together" (Monroe), "people change" (Monroe), and "learn(ing) to let go" (Monroe). This quote also motivates me because it is helping understand my past and what could happen in the future. But my two favorite part of the quote is when Marylin Monroe said "sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together" (Monroe) because that is what life is all but making mistake, learning from them, and making your life better. Also it reminds me that…

Imagination allows an individual to experience nature and explore places of the world in a different way compared to sitting in a car or traveling in an airplane. From my personal experience I can help support Solnit’s opinion and say that it’s accurate. I remember when I was fifteen years, my family and I drove to San Francisco for 8 hours. During the car ride I recall myself being bored and falling asleep most of the road trip. When it came to my dad driving across the Golden Gate Bridge I was excited to finally see it.…

Expository Essay - Madelyn Sauer Tryon Edwards once said, "Right actions for the future are the best apologies for the wrong ones in the past." Even though words hurt us emotionally, actions do speak louder than words because words do not prove your work ethic and actions prove your character. Most people will apologize for their actions, but does the apology speak louder than the actions they perform after it? If you don’t live up to the words you speak, the words truly don’t mean anything at all.…

Teiresias provided is with the quote, All men make mistakes But a good man yields when he Knows his course is wrong And repairs the evil. The only Crime is pride. What this quote means is that every man makes mistakes, but it is rare when when a man gets up and fix his mistakes. Or at least tries to fix it. “The only Crime is pride” I think this is the most important part of the quote and the part that stands out the most.…

In “Argument as Conversation,” Stuart Greene attempts to convince readers that an argument is a conversation. When most people think of arguments, they tend to think of them as being a negative thing. Stuart Greene is trying to have people realise that arguing is used in conversations to move it along, keep it interesting and to also inform people. He tries to focus on how an argument is not to a way to dispute someone, but rather an ongoing conversation with that person.…

What do you think makes a hero, a hero? When reading stories such as Beowulf and Spiderman, you will encounter bravery, death, honorship, and heroism. There are many similarities between the brave soldier, Beowulf, from Beowulf, and the neighborhood superhero, Spiderman, though there are also prominent differences. Both of these characters are put under pressure in precarious situations and struggle to survive a battle, all while refusing to sacrifice their pride and honor.…
