I Have Visited Three Churches Essay

Within the month of November, I have visited three churches that are denominationally different from the church that I am familiar with. Each church has its own characteristics and a way of carrying out events that set each of them apart from each other. Visiting these churches was definitely a learning experience and I have learned different religious ideas that were shocking and unfamiliar to me. The three church visits include St. Innocent Orthodox Church in Macon, Georgia, St. James the Apostle Catholic Church in McDonough, Georgia, and the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Auburn, Alabama.

The first church I attended was the Covenant Presbyterian Church on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at the 10:45 morning service. It is located on 445 Shelton Rd. Auburn, Al 36830. The congregation was very contrasting from the denomination of my church back in McDonough, Georgia. According to the Covenant Presbyterian Church, “their mission is to give glory to God by worshiping Him, sharing the life and message Jesus Christ, and equipping believers to follow and serve Him in the power of the Holy Spirit” (1). The community Christian church that I attend near my house has a similar mission statement and a vision for the community. The church’s vision is based on the idea that the church is a home for their people. “Helping You Home to Christ” is the church’s motto.
