Over my entire learning contract was successful. My strengths will be being confident throughout my internship experience and my weakness would be I always completed every task that was giving to me from my previous experience. However, for this job not all tasks can be done within 24 hours and this made me feel like I haven’t completed anything. I’m planning to accept that part of the job and be okay with it. In terms of what I would have done differently for the internship was to have at least a basic knowledge of how the facilities operate before I started working on the site. This technique would have saved me the time I have spent working on the research to understand what the facilities are all

During my internship at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center (STC), I gained more confidence in my decision in eventually pursuing a career in health care, either through being a researcher or a physician. I first started my internship at the University of Maryland STC in my senior year of high school as a requirement for my magnet program. The internship was a volunteer position but we performed basic tasks such as stocking each bay with supplies and saline solution, retrieving blood from the blood bank when needed, and providing blankets and socks for incoming patients. I never paid attention to the importance of these tasks until one specific incident.…

As a student eager to get out of the classroom and experience working in the mental health field, as well as interact with those suffering from mental illness, an internship was the logical next step to gain this type of knowledge. Although this comes with its natural feelings of anxiety and inadequacy, the knowledge and life skills I’ve gained through this experience has helped me grow as a person, has made me feel more prepared to help those struggling, and has given me the skills to overcome such negative feelings in the future. My internship was with Crawford County Human Services, specifically spending my time with the Blended Case Managers (BCM), and for a small amount of my internship, the Family Case Managers (FCM). In the Human Services field I am very passionate about working with people in the deaf culture. I am passionate about working with this population because I know American Sign Language and I feel a connection to the community. Learning ASL took a long time and allowed me to be engaged in many events in the deaf community. I believe people in this population are not given nearly as much attention or opportunities as they should be. The lack of equal access to education, jobs, and basic interactions that hearing people take for granted is not fair and puts this population at a disadvantage therefore making it important for people to want to work with this group of people.…

During my internship experience, I learned a lot of things that I thought I knew but are misconstrued on. With that being said, I know everything must be done in decent order or this will cause chaos and lead to confusion. I also learned everything takes patience and is very time- consuming. I became frustrated, so many times and just wanted to give up, but I had to remind myself that hard times are going to come and everything is going to work out. Many times I sat on my bed crying because it seems like everything piled on me at one time.…
