She used to be beautiful.
Gravity has since taken control of her face, molding permanent creases that continue to accumulate. Each fold symbolizes another year. Her hair is now ash—dye being her pathetic attempt in maintaining her youth throughout her paper thin locks. Consistently, she wrestles tears as she works to conceal stretch marks that have resulted from four separate deliveries.
Now forced to bare this horrific scene everyday opposite her, shining back within the vanity of her bedroom, she wonders, “Where have I withered away to?”
She no longer sees that sort of juvenile glow that had once illuminated her formerly flawless features.
Although the majority have searched within themselves, a festering negativity and inability to see beyond physical appearance

For example, repetitive statements, with seemingly simple meanings, may have connotations that require further examination in order to decipher them. This shows how hearing empowering statements, within a melody, along the lines of, “I/You/We are beautiful no matter what they say,” may have undiscovered deeper meanings that they entitle (Aguilera). While one may interpret this as saying how everyone is to disregard any negative comments that are thrown at them, there may be additional ideas. For example, the pronoun “they” that is used may referring not to literal people, but for somebody’s thoughts. This could then mean that someone’s own personal thoughts may be the “words [that] can’t bring you down” (Aguilera). Therefore, this covert interpretation may propel someone away from viewing his/herself as being repulsive and it then goes further to motivate people and to push them past any harsh words or feelings that may be disabling them from recognizing the beauty that has been within
