“The final section of Martin Luther King Jr.’s eloquent and iconic ‘ I Have a Dream’ speech is believed to have been largely improvised.” The writers of The History Channel Website, a commonly used website, state, “Even though King’s “I Have a Dream” speech has changed how most people feel, not everyone agrees with him. Some feel the speech was a great accomplishment of King, not all did. Even though we all have different feelings, we still have to live with how his speech impacted the general population. Martin Luther King Jr. was a great Civil Rights leader and has made the world an even better place than it was. His younger self, older self, ‘I Have a Dream’ speech, and his ‘I’ve been to the Mountaintop’ speech are all things about Martin Luther King Jr. that have greatly impacted society as we know it.

This was his last and final speech that Martin Luther King Jr. gave. He gave this speech, his last speech, the day before he was assassinated. King demanded that the United States defended all of its citizens, regarding Civil Rights. Toward the end of the speech, King refers to the threats against his life and uses languages “foreshadow” his impending death. The background his “I’ve Been to the Mountaintop” speech tells us why he had given it. The sanction workers were on strike because they were not getting paid enough so King, regarding the strike said “ The issue is the refusal of Memphis to be fair and honest in its dealings with its public servants, who happen to be sanitation workers.” This means that King supported these sanction workers while they were on strike. Most of his speech was about their strike, he was defending their strike. The parts of his speech that weren’t about the strike were about the boycott on the
