Have you ever hated someone so much but deep down you really care about them? In I Hate You I Love You by Olivia O’brien, and Mixed Emotions by Jamie Nelson they both hate someone but also love them. In both the poem and the song they have similar themes about mixed feelings the author show us this by using love and hate.
In the song artist and the author uses love to show how they have similar themes. In the song, “It hurts me every time I see you realize how much I need you”(Gnash). It hurts them to see them happy with another person. While they need them to be happy. And in the poem,”Despite your problems, I love you and you have made me feel truly overwhelmed. Truly happy.
