In most Indian families, people get married within their culture. But so was not the case in my family. My mother’s parents were from two different states in the Northern part of India; Uttar Pradesh and Punjab. Since they had almost the same rituals and cultures, it was reasonably okay for them to get married. But my dad was from the eastern part of India; Orissa. My mom and dad met in college and fell in love. But their families were not very happy; they were afraid of their decision to get married because they weren’t sure if they would comfortably fit into each other’s way of living.
