I had an interview with my grandfather and he narrated a lot to me about our family history from very early in the days. I asked a set of questions that I had prepared to him and he explained every bit.
My grandfather was born on the 26th of March 1936 on one cold misty night in a family of seven siblings and he was the second last born. He grew up a time when life was very hard since their parents were not well off. His father was a gambler while his mother was a stay home mom. When growing up my grandfather was a very notorious and rebellious teen that he always gave his parents a very hard time. There were many times that he run away from home and ended up in a children’s home .It was during one of the art sessions in one of the children’s home that he fell in love with art and from that moment he knew that is what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. This perhaps was the reason why two of his sons are professional painters maybe learnt the art from their father. My grandfather told me that passion is something you can never take away from somebody because it is deep in that person. When he went back home from the children’s he had a very rough time with his parents since they wanted him to go join the military but he did not like that. So he had to sort his uncle’s help so that he could try convincing his parents on his behalf that he wanted to join an art school. A variable lesson I learnt from this is that always fight for what you want in life and you will get
