Reflection On The Science Of Influence

I found the Science of Influence reading to be interesting. I found it to be interesting because of how it ties the social influence of leaders and ways that it influences the people that surround them. It also identifies how good social influence can persuade people to do or buy into an idea or action that they normally would have. Social influence is captured here in the six principles of persuasion to negotiate and mediate more effectively. The Principles of Liking. Nothing, I think, makes a stronger bond in this capacity more than being able to relate to the people one is affiliated with; similarity. It has been said over and over that in personal, non-business relationships, that opposites attract. This social philosophy is not so much in a professional area. Opposites can only lead to unhealthy work relationships and toxic work environments. Especially if the parties involved are not professional and are not mature enough to keep business, business and personal feeling out. Positive social influences can produce a productive and healthy work environment as well as build loyalty and great cohesion among all involved. However, within this principle, there has to be the ability to employ balance within a group or team, which will illuminate commonalities hence identifying similarities that would otherwise not have effortlessly or …show more content…
This principle is practice by almost all business professionals and frankly, it is pretty much human nature of almost all people. I was told once by one of my mentors to never let anyone else’s attitude dictate how my mood or my day was going to go. Reciprocity serves in a lot of instances as a magnet. Bubbly, outgoing, positive, and pleasant attitudes exudes happiness and happiness is a magnet. The same attitude is also applied in work ethics.
