In the memoir, “I Escaped A Violent Gang,” the author shows us that there is a theme of courage throughout the piece. At the beginning of “I Escaped A Violent Gang,” it tells the time when the author is court testifying as an eyewitness to something that happened between two gangs. In the beginning, Sarah kept going outside to recess and got bullied every day. The author goes back to school, with scars and bruises on his face and arms.This shows courage because he could be bullied by his friends for looking different.
