The first person I shared my faith with was Haley Harding. She is a girl on my floor who had already shared with me that she has not attended church for much of her life up to the present. I had asked her questions about how, in consideration of that, she had made her way to Messiah. She shared a little bit of her story and I felt God putting her name on my heart several times. Another unexpected result of this is becoming more aware of how often others share their faith with me. Both Haley and Michael shared at least a little bit of their testimony before I decided to share. I have always felt that there are only two options when someone shares their faith story. One, comment on their experiences or two, respond by also sharing my own. I tend to take the first stance; the reason being that responding with my own story is self-centered. However, I have found that it is not selfish to also share my own story and results in a more dynamic discussion. In addition, the other person is glad for my input as it develops the trust between us and therefore grows the friendship. Sharing gives the other person the feeling that I trust them, which is critical after they have trusted me by sharing their
