My Role Model And Positive Role Models In Life

I don’t have many moments that could be constituted as “life changing”. In my twenty-one years of life I have only had a few small moments that gradually proved pivotal. Going into my junior year of college, life is changing in a big way in the fact I am only two years away from being a complete adult; my own job, my own living arrangements, etc. This is a time filled with changes and decisions that can drastically effect my future. Before, during, and after this class I have looked into how I should ethically live my life. Ethically, there hasn’t been many positive role models in my life. I really only have one person in my family that I can look up to as a role model and that is my cousin Dave. My cousin Dave successfully owns his own contracting …show more content…
My prime motivator is to live a happier and more successful life than what came before me. My family, both close and extended, have not been very successful baring a few outliers. One of my motivators is to impress and make my close family proud. I want to be able to show them that I took what was given and made it considerably better. Even though I may fall away from it at times, I try my hardest to abide by the golden rule, to treat others the way that you would want to be treated. This is called the golden rule because it can be so universally beneficial. It helps in almost every aspect of one’s life. Treating others with fairness and deserved respect will cause the same to happen to you, a karma system of sorts. I would want others to see me as someone to look up to, as someone who has seemingly “done things right” and can be influential onto others. If I am facing tough decisions, I rely mainly on my own ideas and conclusions. This doesn’t mean that I don’t look to others for help, it is just that I mainly use myself for this. My mother is normally my first go-to for important life decisions as I see her as logical and fair, I will also use my friends as a source for decision making that I cannot easily make on my

Everyone wants to leave behind a legacy; something people will remember them by. When we think of others that have passed on we often remember them for a certain quality they possessed. We also remember people for the type of person they were and what they took through life with them. Recently, I read “The Last Lecture” by author Randy Pausch. Paush has terminal cancer, and he tries to find a way to leave behind a legacy for his children and the world.…

On August 2nd, 1941 First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt wrote this quote in her daily newspaper column, “My Day.” In the thick of World War II Roosevelt’s quote inspired many as they fought through their hardships. People learn from doing. We maintain the values that our role models instill in us, but as we gain experience, we fashion our own beliefs. A mirror of this in my life is my work with the organization Soles for Jesus.…

A renowned quote by David Bly states, “your children will become what you are. So be what you want them to be.” Being a mother generated an undeniable urge, and willpower to transmute into a person that I decree to be commendable enough for my son to regard as a role model. Currently, my three-year-old son calls me and perceives me as Wonder Woman. However, when he grows up I am determined to have earned that entitlement.…

Just like anything else in life, different things have different meanings to different people. The election of President Obama as a positive Black role model shows young black males that with hard work and dedication, they too can be successful. The great thing about this is that, little Black boys can grow up knowing that there is (and in a few months was) a Black president. This is the highest possible office to be held in the United States. Those that are over the age of 65 are fortunate to have lived long enough to see this fact materialize.…

Although this lack of personal knowledge existed in the beginning of my high school career, it did not occur forever. I am Elizabeth Taylor, I am a senior at Mission Springs High School. I am seventeen years of age. I had a pretty good life, if I could say so myself. Besides my Dad deciding to take himself out of my life simply because my family wasn’t enough for him might have been a bit of a downer, but other then that life is good.…

A motif that haunts the months of college applications and preparation is the daunting idea of seniors entering into the "real world." An alleged, new realm of reality that discredits the validity of the last few years in high school, not to mention the three before that and all the experiences previously. This concept coincides seamlessly with the idea that college is a beacon of newfound adulthood. Even so, each student's differing personality, aspirations, culture and tribulations falsifies the belief that adulthood is that straightforward. Thus, in order to define the moment that marked my transition into adulthood, I must first define what being an adult means to me.…

My dad owns a basketball company and because of this much of the things i do and participate in are affected by this.
