I Admire My Grandma Essay

Improved Essays
I do not think I could admire anyone more than my aunt Sam. With all that she has been through I am happy to call her my idol. Every since I was younger, I have always envied her children; I am not saying I wished I had a different mom. What I am saying is that I wish she could have been more like Sam. Sam may have been younger when she first had Cody, but she had a good head on her shoulders.
My aunt herself, never really had that motherly figure. To my grandmother, work was a little more important. She is a very old-fashioned woman. This is where my family is extremely fictitious and pompous. They try everything they can to come on top for their mother’s glory. In order to achieve this high honor you have to make the others seem insignificant as possible (ie making comments to portray the other dim-witted). Without fail Sam and her family will not show. If they do it would be a very rare occasion. She never liked the way they treated Scott. They always left him out, ignored him, or treated him like dirt. My family makes it pretty clear he is not welcomed. My aunt Sam once said “after 14 years they should get over it.”
My grandma likes to make “family vacations”, which just consists of staying in a hotel for about three days. If she likes you enough she will bribe you with a trip to Disney. That or if you did her bidding she would reward you the same. Like my aunt, I have never gone and refuse to go. She claims you do not need to throw extravagant trips to tell your kids you love them and I completely agree.
Scott’s mom, sadly not too long ago passed away from cancer. This devastated Sam and her family. However, every now and again she will see signs that Patty is still with her. She kept her from giving up and to keep going

Or why men were the leaders of their households, why women were only good for cooking, cleaning, and having babies.…

I tried on several occasions to write a eulogy for my mother. If I had made the effort by hand, all that you would have seen would have been an enormous pile of paper balls tossed in and around the trash basket. I simply could not come up with the right words for the occasion. My thoughts and feelings about her passing were just too difficult to express publicly. Of course, I could relate any number of events in my life that were touched by my mother.…

Family Assessment Assignment According to Potter and Perry (2010), a family assessment is necessary to provide sufficient family care and support. A family assessment gives the community health nurse an overall picture of the family’s structure and functions. Family health concerns are acknowledged and family strengths are emphasized by completing a family assessment (Stanhope, Lancaster, Jessup-Falcioni, & Viverais-Dresler, 2011). This paper will examine a family assessment that I conducted with a family and will include a completed genogram (see Appendix A) and ecomap (see Appendix B).…
