For my project, I decided to volunteer for the Hillary Clinton campaign downtown. I also worked closely with the democratic organization on campus. During the month of October, we focused on signing people up to vote and changing their voting addresses. The first time I went out in the neighborhood, I was a little nervous for two reasons. Firstly, I was nervous because over the past three years I’ve been in Bloomsburg, never have I traveled outside of the commonly known parts of town. Secondly, I didn’t know how people were going to answer their doors once they saw a young African American male standing there. After I started knocking on doors that fear went away and I be gained to become amazed about the community as a whole. Honestly I never thought that there would be anyone in Bloomsburg or the surrounding areas that would be democrats or even vote for Hillary. The biggest thing that caught me by surprise about the community was how many people were not already registered to vote, especially since; they are over forty and fifty years old. Even though a number people decided not to register to vote, after I got my first person registered to vote I felt good. Every registered voter, I got in a crazy way I felt as if I single handily would help Clinton win, even though now I know she lost. Early in the election during the get out and vote campaign, I noticed how some people did not pay attention to what party they were associated with but only who each candidate was. For…
