Macbeth Song Analysis

This song was chosen for the album because of how well it describes the theme of the play. The theme of the play is, "vaulting ambition leads to unchecked morals, destruction, and death." This song is called "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction." The theme of the play revolves around the fact that Macbeth cannot be satisfied, he is greedy and just wants more and more, until it ultimately ruins him. The song is about social isolation, and how it affects you. When you distance yourself from society's norms and personal relationships you gain your individuality but lose your sense of gratification. So you start to become who you really are when you take a step back from what people want you and expect you to be, but when you do that you lose society's …show more content…
Macbeth doesn't believe them because neither of those titles are even close to his reach. But when Thane of Cawdor is placed upon him, he begins to think that King of Scotland could be his too. This ignites his ambition. The song also says, "that man comes on to tell me / how white my shirts can be." This line can be related to when Lady Macbeth convinced Macbeth to become a ruthless go getter. She tells Macbeth to kill Duncan and think about the rewards he can sow. Also, by stepping back from a societal norm of being just and content he showed what I think was his true colors. He showed who he really was all along by becoming a heartless tyrant, he lost all of his gratification and all of his friends and respect. Macbeth in Act 5 says "And that which should accompany old age, / As honor, love, obedience, troops of friends, / I must not look to have; but, in their stead, / Curses not loud but deep," (5.3.24-27). When he realizes that his life has been nothing but deceit and loneliness he feels bad and I feel that the lyric "'Cause you see I'm on a losing streak," really describes his situation at the end of Act

Unfortunately, she is no longer sane and is consumed by the guilt of her actions. When she does pass away, Macbeth is left to fend for himself which makes him even more paranoid. Since “Macbeth leans upon her strength, trusts in her fidelity, and throws himself on her tenderness” (Jameson 7), his goal becomes more difficult. It is evident that their relationship, while she was alive, was one filled with love and equal respect for one another – he fondly calls her “my dearest partner in greatness” (Shakespeare 46) in the letter addressed to her. After Duncan’s murder, it seems to distance the partners in crime.…

Macbeth is torn and is under a lot of pressure because Lady Macbeth is saying that if he does not go through with the plan, then like his love for her, she will assume that he is not serious about what he says, including their love. She then further insults his masculinity by saying that if he were a true man, then he would dare to do what he had said he would, in this case, murdering King Duncan. “When you durst do it, then you were a man; / And to be more than what you were, you would / Be so much more the man,"(1.7.56-58). Lady Macbeth tries to manipulate Macbeth by saying that if he dares to think about killing King Duncan, it will show that he is a man, but to actually commit the…

Macbeth shares the prophesies with her and she has the same first instinct. She believes that the solution is to kill King Duncan, but Lady Macbeth is not confident in Macbeth’s evil character. She thinks that he is “too full o’ the milk of human kindness” (1.5.16), and not capable of doing what it takes to fulfill this prophecy. She then illustrates what she believes is the road to success: “To catch the nearest way: thou wouldst be great: Art not without ambition, but without The illness should attend it.”…

Right from the start, Lady Macbeth displays a lack of humanity due to her burning passion to become queen. Through dramatic irony, readers are able to see through her amicability towards King Duncan, characterized by letting him into her own home with open arms, and ultimately, not displaying her true intentions. This passion only becomes stronger and stronger over time as she persuades Macbeth to commit murder, even going as far as questioning his “lack of courage” (Jamieson). Once there is an opportunity for Lady Macbeth to take on a role of power, she jumps at the opportunity, even going as far as convincing her husband to help her take part in gaining power (Jamieson). Based off of the actions and decisions that she made throughout the…

Lady Macbeth is very manipulative and ambitious. Her evil is articulated in words and in her cunning strategies. Macbeth had decided not to execute King Duncan and told her not to continue with the deed, instead of ending the plans she replied with a ‘motivational speech’ which then changed Macbeth’s mind. In the speech, Lady Macbeth verbally attacks Macbeth by testing his masculinity and also linking it back to personal attacks such as when she say she would smash her own son's brain then back out of this deed. Macbeth was more motivated to kill King Duncan after she said, “What beast was ’t, then, That made you break this enterprise to me?…

As revealed by his speech immediately following Macduff’s flight to England, Macbeth, the newly crowned King of the Scots, acts spontaneously, without serious rational thought. In the “Castle of Macduff” speech (Act IV.i 144-156, Macbeth decides to fully discharge any previous ability to reason. Immediately, he challenges “Time” (allegorical figure), which he sees as an adversary, trying to stop him from ever acting on his thoughts. Furthermore, he uses the specific diction of “dread” and “flighty,” implying that his actions must be fulfilled before reason forces them out. As the Tyrant Macbeth continues to analyze his past way of life, he describes his old ideas as “o’ertook” in the passive voice; he is not able to put direct action into his…
