Since I was young, I have always been fascinated with the world, and the diversity that it holds. I became very fascinated with traveling and studying abroad when I was in Middle School. My grandparents are avid travelers and have gone to almost every continent and stayed for months at a time. In middle school, was the first time that I vividly remember hearing about one of my Grandparents trips, when they went to Peru. My grandmother took thousands of pictures, and while she was there she volunteered in local schools, and really embraced the culture of Peru. My grandparents a slightly different than most “world traveler’s.” Even though they are “older” they don’t stay in nice hotels, in safe cities. Instead they stay in hostiles and with host …show more content…
To begin with, it will personally benefit me because it gives me the opportunity to see the world, at the same cost as my tuition. Traveling is an expensive task and that is one major deterrent for many young adults, because they don’t have the money in college, and right after they graduate. The opportunity that St. Norbert provides through their study abroad program, is amazing, to put it simply. They offer the chance to study almost anywhere in the world for the same price as tuition. Along with that, Bond University will help me advance professionally and academically as well because of the classes that I will take while I’m there, but also the experience that I will gain from living in a different country. I plan on fulfilling 4 of my psychology minor requirements while I am abroad. This is an amazing opportunity, because psychology, put simply, is the study of people. Being able to study psychology in a different country will allow me to have a completely blank slate in my study. I will have no previously depositions about the style and culture of the people there. I can start completely fresh and learn in a completely different way. I am most excited about the opportunity to take cross-cultural psychology while I am at Bond University, because that class talks about cultures affect human behavior, and learning about different cultures, while I …show more content…
I have a very strong support system at home, and they are really important to me. Although, they are very supportive and encouraging about my study abroad opportunity, I do believe that it’s going to be very hard to be away from them for such a long period of time. I am hoping that while I am there, my parents will have the opportunity to come visit me, however, if they do not I believe that I will be able to adjust to not being able to see them. With technology today, there is always the ability to Facetime, call or text them even when I am half way across the world. Also, as I become more accustomed to the culture and meet new people in Australia I believe it will become easier for me to be apart from them. Being given the opportunity to study abroad at Bond University in Australia would be one of the greatest experiences in my life. Traveling and experiencing new cultures first-hand would be a great experience personally, academically, and professionally. I truly believe that Bond University will provide me with a “St. Norbert” like experience, in Australia, and will fully support me in my time

I was born in Saigon, Vietnam in a humid December day of 1995 with two loving parents. I do not recall too much of my childhood, except being really scared of my aunt and having a lot of fun playing jump rope and showering naked in the rain with my friends. At the age of 6, I moved to the United States and attended schools here while accustoming to the American life. To my surprise, I later learn that the city of Garden Grove is not really a representative of the United States, but that is another story for another day. Ever since, the United States has become my home.…
