Graduation Speech: My Educational Journeys

Improved Essays
During our journeys in life we have amazing individuals who will come along beside us and empower us to go after our goals, grab hold of our purpose and fly towards our destiny with confidence no matter what. Most times those individuals will not even realize the impact that they have had on our life until the time comes when they are recognized during a particular speech, remembrance with other individuals, or just through a simple conversation between the two years later. Throughout my life experiences, I have had the honor to have amazing individuals come along side and empower me to see a possible future, and believe it can be obtained. I will be recognizing these individuals; these mentors who encouraged and had the ability to see ahead what others could not see and to help me navigate a course to my destiny to be a part of a movement that will impact the destinies of the next generations. During my Freshman year at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, I became a teacher intern with the UTC Strings Project program, which focused on instrumental methods of string instruments for elementary through middle school. I wasn’t suppose to intern officially till my sophomore year, but Dr. Lee Harris (Department Head …show more content…
Dr. Lee Harris took a chance by allowing me to begin as an intern when I did, because he wasn’t suppose to and other professors even advised him to not bend the rules for anybody; as an educational leader Dr. Lee took a chance and I am grateful for it, because that experience opened up many doors afterwards that may not have opened if I had not had experience teaching, training future interns, and learning how to understand and use curriculum to expose students to

Pre-Experience Journal Entry I was born to be an engineer. I grew up playing math games, building lego sets, and taking apart electronics. My Senior Capstone Experience (SCE) will definitely be in the area of engineering. More specifically, I would love to do either computer science or electrical engineering, as these are the areas I want to major in when I go to college. I came to GSMST because I have always had an interest in engineering, and GSMST has only made that interest stronger.…

Although growing up in a household surrounded by Vietnamese tongue, my parents always made the conscious effort to ensure that I was becoming more fluent in English—as I read the Little Golden Books Series every night before I slept, watched the Berenstain Bears on the small, bulky cathode ray television before me, and completed numerous School Zone workbooks—so that I wouldn’t be a step behind my English-speaking peers once I was sent off to pre-kindergarten. I never thought much of it, but the idea of one day—in the distant future—walking through confetti with a cap and gown on and a diploma in my hand had always been ingrained since I was four. I knew that I was going to graduate high school and go to college before I could even use the…

law firm internship. An agonizing few days passed as I waited for a reply, and I was ecstatic to learn that I had been chosen for the internship. No words could explain how excited I was but the smile that filled my face said it all. At this internship, I built upon what I learned at Hyde Square Task Force and developed more confidence and determination to succeed in a professional environment. Not only did I take Shakespeare, writing, public speaking, civil rights and art classes, but I also worked in an office, participated in community service events, and visited colleges, which all helped me explore and adapt to different ambiances of the work…

Greetings, Class of 2023. Today, we get to celebrate the culmination of our thirteen years of hard work in school with graduation, and I have been asked to deliver this year’s commencement speech. I would like to thank all of the people that have brought us here: family members, teachers, principals, and people who would go out of their way to encourage us to keep trying hard even in the midst of failure. Without you, we would not be standing on this stage today. I would like to start by defining the word “commencement.”…

European Internship Reflection Paper My European Internship at Kaiserslautern High School in Kaiserslautern, Germany was an unforgettable experience. I say this with both the most positive and highest regard someone could use to define a once in a lifetime and life-changing opportunity. I was able to grow as a future special education educator, a Western Michigan University student, and as an individual. I was pushed out of my comfort zone in many ways inside and outside the classroom, and through the Department of Defense School Environment, as well as being in Germany, which to me, was a foreign country in Europe. I can honestly say that through this internship experience, I have gained countless knowledge, the “on the job” application…
