I am what I am today because of the experiences I had in my life. From childhood, I was a very timid person. At school, I focused only on studies and never participated in any other activities. The sole reason being “fear of failing”. But things changed when I was out of the school after matriculation. I was in a more open world where there were challenges for career, for life. I was adamant that I wanted to pursue my studies in the engineering field from any national institute of the country. But to get into these institutions was a hard nut to crack because of the big pool of students and limited number of seats in these institutions. It needed rigorous study and hard work. But I was brought to the ground reality after my 1st semester results. I got the reality check that the competition there was tough and everyone in the institute had some qualities or the other. I worked hard for the second semester and got an excellent CGPA. In 2nd year, I entered into the specialization i.e. chemical engineering, but the college atmosphere exposed me to a new world. I worked under the seniors in the national level technical festival which exposed me to the world other than mere studies. I made very good friends from all over the country; learned things that needed organization for the big events, etc. After that I decided to be part of the core committee for the festival because I had got the confidence in me that I could do things other than …show more content…
But I was not distracted from my ultimate goal of life; to do something innovative in the field of engineering which would benefit the life of common people. I did my summer intern at the energy solutions provider company and I find my direction about the things I needed to do in order to achieve that goal. I did preliminary studies about the research during my project work in my final year and this sets the tone for my decision to achieve master’s degree. The city in which my undergraduate institute was situated had got its name from the river which flows through the city. Now that river just carries the sewage and waste water. This is the scenario of most of the rivers in India. The rivers and environment is polluted because of the industries that do not take proper measures for the environmental safety and lack of research in this field. This drives my motivation to do a deep study in the environmental engineering.
