Personal Narrative: My Visit To A Fine Arts Museum

I am visiting the Museum of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg Florida. I would love to be an art expert, or be able to really get into art. I have often heard people talk about art and I become intimidated by their knowledge of the piece, the era, and of the artist. They discuss such in-depth thought about many pieces in the museum, so I do not visit as I feel intimidated by others knowledge. My initial expectations are very low as my ears do not hear what the arts are saying. However, I hope that this is not the case I want to learn and grow more fond of the arts. I think that I will see many sculptures and paintings from the Americans and ancient Rome. The Museum of Fine Arts has a strong selection of art from many cultures. The Curator of this museum has laid out the arts by culture, I am pleased that this is the case for a novice such as myself. The word timeless is used a lot in many different fields of study, but what makes things timeless? In order for something to be timeless it would be relevant to many different generations, and Roman art is just that. When I walked in the room with the Roman art, no one had to tell me the theme I immediately knew. These sculptures were carved from marble. Marble is one of the most durable natural stones in existence today, and Rome was filled with it. The proof of durability, many of Roman sculptures have been around for thousands of years, and yet it looks like it was just carved. This natural stone meshes with any decor, these centerpieces will bring new life to any room or home. Sculpture of natural marble sits in the many gardens and government buildings today. Many have recognized the timelessness of this art and have replicated these techniques in their own art to achieve
