I 've always been truly awful at writing, but one person has miraculously made me appreciate it more, without even realizing that he has done so. In fact, I believe he still has yet to realize the profound effect that he has had on me concerning writing. I might even want to improve my writing skills, and just communication skills in general, because of this one person. Amazing, right? I can almost vividly remember the day in which my appreciation first appeared. It was nearing the end of my junior year of high school, and our class was being forced to write poetry. Not just any normal poetry, no, but sonnets. As if composing poetry wasn 't hard enough already. I cringed when first learning about the assignment. Being the dedicated procrastinator …show more content…
It 'd be an interesting cliffhanger, kind of. Instead, let 's just pause a moment, and possibly read that again: “baby eating.” Now that I 've made a big deal about it, or attempted to at least, I 'll step back a bit and quickly note that he isn 't a cannibal. Imran had read “A Modest Proposal”, by Jonathan Swift, earlier that year. Whether he read the whole thing or just a part of it, I don 't quite remember. It was a satire about eating babies and the economic values of eating said babies. I, unfortunately, didn 't get to read the masterpiece until the next year. I remember how ridiculous the whole thing was, and I actually still have his poem written down somewhere. I 'd love to type the whole thing out here, but I never asked for his permission, and don 't want to embarrass him too much. A little bit is okay, though. We were just laughing about it all, and couldn 't really take anything else seriously for a bit after that. At one point, I watched him as he paused for a minute, trying to come up with a word that rhymed with “necessity.” I waited intensely. I waited, wondering what the next line would be, only to watch him slowly and hesitantly type out the letters forming “yessity.” It was a truly beautiful sight, and we laughed some more about his incredible

Way back in the 6th grade, I didn't have many friends. We all have those awkward years in our lives, and this was most definitely the beginning of mine. While sitting reading a book in the hallway of the Alton, Middle School before school a girl came by. This girl stopped, looked at what I was reading, and said, "Hey I just finished reading that book it's really good!" This small gesture, was the beginning of a beautiful friendship that I will cherish for the rest of my life.…

“I have been assured by a very knowing American of my acquaintance in London, that a young healthy child well nursed is at a year old a most delicious, nourishing, and wholesome food, whether stewed, roasted, baked, or boiled ...” (Swift). These lines are an example of satire because it is against humane morals to eat our own kin. Cannibalism is the eating of human flesh by another human being. However, the young babies will be considered a delicacy in the culinary realm of Ireland.…

There are good writers and there are good writers who work hard to become better. Mrs. Fiske, my English teacher junior and senior year of high school always told me that I was one of the best writers in my class but I could always be better. Spelling has always been one of my strong suits and I always get bothered when people can’t spell simple words. I’m pretty good at writing essays but I do not enjoy writing them at all.…

The first time, I enrolled in this class, I felt excited knowing this class would help on my grammar, so I can become a better writer. My first thought that cross my mind was this was going to be easy and it was. My last experienced with writing and English was okay because I mainly get a B or a C, but rarely I would get an A. Like most people who share the state of conciousness, I am prone to day dream. I often float away on the soft clouds of my fantasies, drifting high above reality in the vast blue sky. As a writer, these fanciful mental journeys sometimes lead me to imagine what my perfect writing environment would look like. I am not alone in this wistful contemplation; many other authors, painters, and musicians join me in exploring this mental path, each envisioning their own versions of the ideal creative escape. Some yearn for extravagant spaces, like a sprawling historical library, or a high tech office.…

My writing experience: I didn’t start to read until I was in first grade. Every week we would go to library to check-out two books and take a test on the books we read on a computer. Every day in English we read a short story to ourselves then we would play games dealing with the story to make it fun. To be honest I never really did a lot of writing in Elementary , Middle, or High school so I can’t pinpoint when I started writing. In essay writing I learned its always good to express yourself with your own opinion.…

It was very hard for me to adjust, I was fatigued and emotionally hurt, I turned to writing. My love for writing grew into a bigger part of my life when I kept dream journals.…

Unless I have a very strict and short deadline, my writing process begins with thinking and reading about the topic or subject matter of my paper. I don’t do a structured free writing or idea mapping session, but rather just read a bit to get familiar with the subject matter and to get my brain thinking about the subject. Once I am ready to begin writing. I start with the thesis statement is on the topic, is formatted correctly, and matches the purpose of the essay.…

I didn’t know what I was in for after that day. A writer’s key experiences is what makes them different from other writers and is crucial to their growth as a writer. The writing I composed in Mrs. Heningburg’s class was central to my development as a writer because it made me more confident in my writing and made me more aware of others reading my work as a writer. After hearing my last writing assignment's result in the class, I started expecting a high scoring on my writing works. The compliment about my essay from my sixth-grade teacher changed me, so let's start from the beginning.…
