It is here in the book, where Rick introduces the second portion of his teaching and calls it: Purpose #2: You were Formed for God’s Family. And uses the verse,“I am the vine, you are the branches”, from John 15:5 for the foundation of this section. He begins Chapter 15: Formed for God’s Family, by introducing the reader to Hebrews 2:10a which says “God is the One who made all things, and all things are for His glory. He wanted to have many children share His glory.” In the beginning when God created Adam and Eve God formed a plan for His people to glorify Him. The crazy thing is that we all were formed by God but we aren’t all born as God’s children. We have to be born again as a child, adult or old person accepting God into our hearts because that part is our choice. Once you make that commitment to be one of God’s children, you are then supposed to be baptized which is basically a statement made in front of others that you belong to the trinity; God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. I grew up in a Christ believing, church-going family and committed my life to God when I was six years old and I got baptized by my church shortly after.
In Chapter 16: What Matters Most, God asks us to love others before ourselves. What matters most is love. It includes relationship, time, compassion and unselfishness.
