Literacy Narrative Reflection

When I was first assigned the Literacy Narrative, I thought to myself that this was going to be the first bad grade of the semester. This was the first real paper of the class and it was a whole new writing process to me. What concerned me most was the amount of tedious planning and the number of rough drafts that had to be completed in order to in order to receive a satisfying grade. Before I received this assignment, I had never written anything like this before. Throughout my literacy narrative, I feel that I advanced my skills in the writing process. Since I had not written anything like this before, the writing process that came along with this paper was new to me. According to the syllabus, writing process means that, “Students will demonstrate composing as a recursive process that includes brainstorming, planning, drafting, reviewing, revising, editing, and proofreading.” Throughout this assignment I completed many activities that Mr. Dunkin assigned as homework that would further help me understand the true concept of writing. The best tool for this paper for me was the section on Literacy Narrative in the Norton’s field guide. It really helped me with understand how I should organize my paper. For this assignment I applied all aspects of the writing process and that really helped me achieve my goal of writing a successful literacy narrative. The work I applied toward this learning outcome really helped me in other aspects other than just this class. I will be able to apply the writing process to any paper that I have to write throughout my time in college. It does mean a lot to me because it is something that will stick with me forever and I’ll always remember where I learned the true writing process
