Difficulty: Christian Theism

Difficulty I was told that this paper should be the easiest paper of my entire college career…I hope to God that this assertion is incorrect. My worldview is a jumbled mess with U-turns and right angles. It does not have a name and it does not really fit into a group, but if I had to call it something, it would be historical Christian Theism. While I do believe in God, I do not have many practices, and I may do things that others would consider contradictory because I do what makes me happy at that moment. Sometimes I will do something and other times I won’t. All I know is that 100% of the time, I have no reason for doing what I do besides the fact that it makes me happy. A worldview is “a comprehensive framework of one’s basic beliefs about …show more content…
I have been raised in a Christian Baptist household and everyone in my family claims Christianity. When I was young I went to church every Sunday and Wednesday. My family prayed before every meal and at night before we went to sleep. I believe in God, and trust that He sent His son to save us. I agree with most of the Bible and accept that through this belief, am able to be forgiven and spend eternity in heaven. Prayer is an important part of my relationship with God but the trinity is confusing. The nature of the world is fallen, but humans are inherently good. We are able to have knowledge and understanding through science. The human brain was created to grow and expand. As we discover, we also learn. My morals come from all over the place. A lot are from the Bible and things my parents have taught me growing up. I have also created my own morals on certain topics. Happiness and love are two things that are underrated in today’s culture, but they are a big part of the way I live my life. Time is linear with my worldview. No matter what happens, life goes on. I guess that I do have some Christian Theist qualities in my worldview, but I do not follow the traditional …show more content…
When you add another building block to your life, your worldview expands. If you realize one day that something you have believed your entire life to be true is now false, then you’re worldview comes crashing down. My worldview does not fit into a group and that is all right. I could consider myself a historical Christian theist, as this is what I have always known and still to this day believe some of the ideas taught in this religion. My worldview does not have too much effect on my daily life except that it helps me know my morals. It helps me stay out of immense trouble and it keeps my spirits high. I have my own ideas on why the world works the way it does and why I do the things I do. But at the end of the day the main reason why I make the decision that I do just comes down the one fact. Will it make me happy? Life is too short to waste time doing something you

The book Simply Christian by N.T. Wright there are three main parts, “Echoes of a Voice”, “Staring at the Sun”, and “Reflecting the Image”. In part 1, “Echoes of a Voice”, he isolates four voices: the longing for justice, the thirst for spirituality, the craving for relationships, and the attraction of beauty each of which point the human soul toward God. He focuses on our longing for justice first. He doesn’t understand how on one hand we all have the same sense that justice exists but on the other hand after millennia of humans existing we can’t get any closer to it than the ancients did.…

When it comes to religious beliefs, the human experience aspect plays a very important role. Although there are other forms of influence when choosing or learning about a religion, in my opinion the human experience plays the most vital role. Whether your religion is passed down to you through your family or you make your own individual of which religion you would like to pursue, it is inevitable to have your outlook swayed (even in the slightest). I was born into a family of Christians. However as I grow older meet more people of other religions the things I practiced and the way that I practice them have changed.…

Part of Sire’s definition of worldview, he includes ‘assumptions that may be true, conscious, and consistent” as a characteristic of worldview (Sire, 2009, p. 21). He also listed four main points of accepting a worldview to be: logically consistent, comprehend the data of reality, explain what it claims to explain, and should be subjectively satisfactory (Sire, 2009, p. 281-283). For me, a key point of a worldview is consistency that can be explained. In my adolescence, I did not embrace my parent’s Christian theism worldview because of the lack of answers I seek. However, I moved away from naturalism and now personal accepted Christian worldview.…

Has Sire reached his goal for his book in explaining worldview as a concept? That answer will depend on who is reading the book. Regardless of agreements or disagreements with the book, Sire’s seven questions (that helps reveal someone’s worldview) will be the greatest tool in this book for assessing the worldviews of others. The student unfamiliar with what Christians believe will get a glimpse of Christian presuppositions (with some biblical support as well). Yet those with other worldviews, other than Christianity, that are looking for a concise summary of worldviews may feel another book will better suit them.…

If you are like me, you have heard at least a dozen theories on the basics of Christianity from different preachers. I was raised in a Christian school and had the privilege of hearing preaches of all different denominations and ways of thinking give their opinions of the world in a Biblical context. The problem seemed to be that many of them had different opinions. I found that Romans 1-8 is a good place to start uncovering God’s truth for areas such as: the natural world, human identity, human relationships, culture, and what my worldview should be.…

Chapter six of Practicing Christian Doctrine, by Beth Felker Jones, chiefly discusses Christology and the various heresies that have surrounded it over the years. Christology, which is the study of Christ, helps one to learn more about Jesus and his identity and how to live a good Christian life by forming a relationship with the Lord. In order for Christology to work, the person of Jesus must be known and a major idea discussed in this novel is homoousios, Jesus is full and truly God. Two other important characteristics of God found in this chapter are immutability¬¬ and impassibility.
