As I sat at home in my lonesome, I began thinking about calling my friends to set up a movie date, but then I quickly realized I had no money to pay for the movies. After the harsh reality hit me, the idea of finally getting a job dawned on me. Suddenly, my phone began to ring and it was my best friend Betsy calling to make plans for the mall tomorrow. “Yes, the mall would be the perfect place to find a job!” I thought to myself. Throughout the night, I slept with extreme excitement as I dreamt of what having a job would be like.

The next day, I woke up with an abundant amount of energy as I prepared myself for the grand job hunt. We applied to almost every store while walking through the hectic mall but as we were leaving the mall we noticed we forgot to apply to one place, and that place was Garfield’s Restaurant and Pub. Quickly, we walked in with lively smiles and within seconds we were greeted by this handsome young man wearing a vibrant orange polo. “Hello ladies how are you?” he asked in a bubbly voice. We woke up around eleven that morning to get dressed with the appropriate attire which consisted of a colored polo and black dress pants. Quickly, we were dressed and out the door in about twenty minutes and as soon as we walked in the two hosts Lauren and Monica greeted us with welcoming smiles while introducing themselves. Monica seemed shy, she didn 't say much, but Lauren was extremely vivid and outgoing. In fact, she even gave us nicknames based off the color of our polos. We were wearing green and orange polos, therefore she named us Christmas and Tropical. Immediately she began showing us around and demonstrated the simple tasks of the host, about an hour into the night people began to file in continuously which told us our busy night was about to

We had just come from my granddaughter’s basketball game and we had decided to go to the Bob Evans in Marysville. That particular Bob Evans does not have a good reputation with me but since my dear grandchildren wanted to eat there I simply replied, “Why not.”. When we got inside a very cheery room greeted us. There was a beautiful chandelier covering twenty or so tables with green tablecloths and the usual condiments. “It looks good enough.”…

There are good writers and there are good writers who work hard to become better. Mrs. Fiske, my English teacher junior and senior year of high school always told me that I was one of the best writers in my class but I could always be better. Spelling has always been one of my strong suits and I always get bothered when people can’t spell simple words. I’m pretty good at writing essays but I do not enjoy writing them at all.…

“Congratulations!!” read one post on a friend’s Facebook wall, the day after she landed an office job in her field. “So amazing!” read another. “Are you ready for your big-girl job?” asked a third well-wisher, accompanied by a GIF of Amy Poehler as Leslie Knope. “I can’t believe I finally have a real job” was the text she sent me a few days later, from the comfort of her desk, where she had been hired to do operations work for an organization she had once, a few years prior, interned for.…

When I first heard of the $25,000 challenge I was excited yet hesitant. It was definitely a nice change from the previous assignments; however, focusing on what qualities I possess that set me apart from the rest of my peers, deeming me worthy of such a substantial amount of money, still seems wrong. On the other hand, I, being the wonderful student that I am, must put all moral objections to the back of my magnificent mind and get on my high horse to step up to the challenge. One does not have to search high and low to find a good, no, great student. I sport a 4.0 GPA and have never made below a 95 in any of my high school courses.…

Come a little closer, I want to let you in on a couple of secrets: my first thoughts and final thoughts of my first College Composition course. My first thought midway through the first quarter was all I need is to get an A, but how on Earth am I going to accomplish that if this crazy grading scale was in my way. Little did I know that it actually takes a good team to receive the grade that each of us want. My role as a student of College English 110 was attend class, participate in class discussions, help stimulate ideas for other classmates, complete all assignments, and much more. During certain occasions, I contribute to the class by stating my opinions, assist other students in his/her work, and revise peers’ drafts.…

    - The genre of this primary source is historical fiction being presented as narrative nonfiction. What I mean by this is that the work is considered by the author himself to be true and is thus presented and stylized to us in a way that is considered to be Narrative nonfiction. However, seeing as the source also delves into religious and spiritual idioms, it is also in many ways a religious writing. - The source could also be considered in the mystery genre as the entire plot of the story hinges on the discovery of who or what is stalking the woman.…

The Worst Job Ever I wake up early to a loud alarm clock telling me it's time to start another day. I groan, roll over, and try to get another ten minutes rest in. I proceed to make my coffee, and then wishfully glance at the calendar to see if its any closer to Friday. All this stalling and frustration is due to the fact I despise my job. Never the less I walked into my first day of English 101 dreading what was to come, however I left with an open mind.…
